I was wondering how high up the speed ladder everyone has taken their vehicle.

I just got back from Kelowna and on the Coquhallia (sp?) I had it up to 230 KM or 143 MPH for a short blast and it was still climbing before my G/F started getting freaked.

I had mine up to 149 mph before I got freaked. But as far as I read we don't have a speed limiter.

well on saturday night, i was heading out to the local street races to just watch when a redline stopped and asked if i wanted to run on the freeway! at first i said no but when he reved and dropped the clutch in front of me and my girl we juamped in and chased him down on the freeway i was going 130 when i flew by him and kept the pedal down till i hit 155! then the g/f said i can't even see him anymore so i slowed down! just to let you know this was out on 1 way higway with no one around b/c it was like 230am!

i had the old 2.4SS up to 135.... i haven't tried anything too fast with the ss/sc yet.. i wanna hit 160

guestimating 165 because I pinned my needle at 6900 rpm and kept goin to 7400 racing a vette, beat him too lol... by the way we are limited to 158 mph, but hp tuners took care of that.. 200mph now, never gonna hit it, but its nice to know.

I had the g5 up to 190kms going up the Alex Fraser at 4ooam9 no traffic) When I had my ol Vmax I had it up to 230,thats it dont like to go fast for long(to many varietables)

I was pissed, I do not drive his truck like an idiot when he is not around. He could of hurt himself or someone else. I have had mine to 150 on the nose...I ran out of straight road and had to shut down so i could slow up for the bend...I still took the turn at or so...very long sweeping bend with good angle to it

Perhaps. It could be that all the threads I've read about cops in the states is that a high percentage of them are very nasty in regards to speeding. I passed 3 cops the other day on the way to Calgary (other side of the highway) and they don't even blink at 15 over. Even 20 over is overlooked on most occasions. Hell travel the #2 to Edmonton, 25-35 over is "keeping" with the flow of traffic.

When I go to washington sometimes I have to remind myself to slow down.

An Acura RSX-S (B.C. plates) came onto the freeway and was taunting me, but I already had my fun and traffic was getting worse (I don't like swerving around other vehicles looking like an ass). It only took him about 2 or 3 miles to get nabbed by a Washington State Trooper. Thanks for paying revenue to help pave our roads down here, we need the cash!

The SS SC's don't have limiters, they are drag limited.

first time i tried the high speed test was 245 for about a minute or so... i had to slow down cause cars where going by too fast...

second time i have tried the high speed test was 247-249 and it would go more, but again i was just passing cars toooooo fast, and i didnt want anyone to come up infront of me...

as well if you do this too many times, and of course you have to break you rotors can show that you have been going ridicious speeds and breaking and the dealer can void your break warrenty (just some info to know)

Had the cobalt up to 240 km/hr and still had power to keep going but decided to shut it down after flying by a truck on a double lane highway. Something about doing over double the speed he was started to freak me out.:eek: I also came to realize that I was travelling at 1 km/15 sec. That's way too long of a stopping distance for me. Although I do still feed the car some speed every now and then I don't usually try to hit anything over 200.

the fastest I have been in the cavalier is 112 (speed limiter), the fastest in my 97 camaro (LT1, remember those?) was 167. and I do have it on video if anyone is interested...

Only have had my car since this weekend 0% baby :D. I got her upto 105MPH on the freeway and didn't even realize it, not a super fast speed to brag about but it drives like a dream. On the down side it's in the shop today for the stupid cruise control issue :(

When he saw that it was a 4 banger, he asked where the NOS can was. I laughed at him.

i have a road out by me that is 7 miles dead straight no traffic and perfectly repaved a few months ago. Me and my friend went down it at around 2 am me in my red ss him in his yellow one. I go first and tell him to wait about 30 seconds before taking off. I got it to 159-160 was trying to pay more attention to the road then the speedo but one thing i did notice was redline in fourth gear i was hitting 17lbs of boost with stage 2. I will never go 160 again well at least til i get some better damn brakes.

You can change these settings to make it higher.

As far as proving it now.... it can be faked also.....
For those wondering... I can make my car hit 200mph with a few changes to the speedo settings, but in reality your not going that fast. All you need to do is recalibrate the speedo with hptuners software to read more pulse's and you can hit 200mph in 2nd gear which your really not doing. So this makes it very easy to cheat now.

Smaller tires, gears, drag all have a factor in top speed runs.

Got mine going 250kmph.......crazy I loved it.....I had to grab one of my buddies to come with me cause nobody believed me that it would go that fast.....and that a girl would drive that fast...hahaha I was lovin it...

Got my 2.4L SS to 200kph before, that was on a dry day on a loooooong straight pretty flat stretch of road. Still had a lot to go but I didnt feel the need to go much more over that, maybe this weekend I can go faster, I havent tried to go that fast with the K&N filter, but that shouldnt make too much of a difference but we'll see, hopefully I can get my hands on a radio. Convoying it on the highway, radios, cars runnin up to make sure all is clear = good stuff on straightaways!!:twothumbs

Then a little while ago, I hit ~143 while racing an s2k, that was on the freeway and I guess I was so cought up in the race I didn't relize that traffic was flying by like they were standing still. That race was extremely stupid now that I look back... :D But it was still cool seeing my speed-o just past the 140 mark!

so might try again next spring since it's alot faster and won't take 40 seconds to get there.

Had my SC up to about 152ish the other night, granted I had a little bit of a downhill run at the start but it leveled out and was still pulling. I was catching up to an older little pickup and a turn awfully fast so I dropped back down to 90ish.

I was really surprised at how stable the car felt though. Now I wanna go faster!

105mph on my 05 governed lol and when i went over a speed bump at 20mph the vss went out so i went to the nice long straight stretch that has nothing around for about 2 miles and all i did was redlined 4th then 5th plus about 5 seconds on wot... dont remember exactly what rpm tho, didnt get a good glance down and all i kno was it was enough for me when i didnt kno what speed i was going since the speedo wasnt reading.

ya i know i can push 200km/h in my 2.4L i just don't want to the rcmp have been ass hats lately. not to mention its much more fun to see how quickly you can get to that speed what no both getting to that speed and achieving that speed are equally as fun.

Yeah, sorry. Just that's the numer I remember. The k-pro datalogged in mph, so I knew that one was 154, or about 246km/h.
The 240 I took a pic of was likely about 235 really with the speedo being off.
So roughly 146mph.

about 145, drag limited i think cause i had plenty of road left.

ive had the sti close to 200mph maybe over, at 165 maxed on the speedo its at 5700 rpms, and ive had it up to 8900rpms with a redline of 9200rpms

yeah ive done that before.. even when my cat was clogged and my car boosted 19+ pounds on the stage 2 tunes i did 140 in 5th taking my x's friend's home. at only 5600 RPM.. when the IRL was running right i would honestly bet 160 or alittle more.. cause i literally hit fuel cut in 5th once or twice 7k RPMS. never ONCE felt unstable

Stock, it would take a 1/2 hour to get there...and we have a limiter at 130 because of the tires we have.

yeah, it does take a little while to get there, but it handles it pretty well. and it won't go any faster than that

Well whoever told you is wrong.

2.2's with a sport package and the SS/NA or Sport are limited to 130

LSJ are limited to 158

LNFs are limited to 155

All electronically.

Just because it is limited to that does NOT mean that it can go that.

1 more dumb question....I've been told that our speedo's aren't really accurate after a certain speed because somethin about the speed sensors can't configure that fast or something like that. I know I'm wording that wrong from what I've read, but is that false as well?

This wasn't a small curve, it's probably stretched out for 1/8 mi. and it's not that tight of a turn. I guess it was tight enough tho cuz if I woulda turned the wheel just a little more, i prolly wouldn't be here right now cuz I could feel the oversteer coming on. I can handle that turn just dandy at 120-130, but 150 is too much. I was trying to catch up to everyone else I was cruisin with, but their cars were much faster than mine lol

Removed the govnor off the cobalt, had that going 260kmh. Had my ZX6R going 270kmh past the cops and my new Z...had that up to 200kmh

i max out my ss/sc atleast 2-3 times a week on the drive out to school every morning. its been around 155 - 160mph. which is i think 250 - 260kph.

i got my 2000 mustang gt up to 167ish and my 50th ann. yamaha R6 topped out at 172mph!
but for my balt only 130ish.

105-110MPH on the way to sonic in my G5... Got scared and bailed out. Ive only had a drivers license for a month though, so I have the right to be scared.

yeah thats what i love bout this car, its so stable at that speed, like u can do more. (suspension-wise)

kinda the same thing as my bike...in a weird way i found it safer on my ZX6R then in my Cobalt at those speeds. Then again the bike is like a bullet at those speeds when you are hugging the tank and behind the windscreen
