2.8 Pulley + Question: Redline's Faster??

I am getting so mad at my cobalt...i get stage 2 hoping for a 13 second car and to break 100mph and all i get is 14.2 @ 97 at best...but more consistantly 14.5 which is so shitty. I am so mad I ordered the 2.8 pulley and i'm just wondering with stage 2 can i just take the 3.0 pulley off and swap it for the 2.8 using the screws that are on it right now? just making sure it would be an easy swap out before i try this and find out its different...

one last thing...a sat ion redline completely stock was running 14.8 to my 14.5, what is up with that?? please tell me its the bigger rims or i suck at driving or something? he had a faster 60' and 330' time than i did but finally pulled on him at the end. I slip the clutch at 2, and depending sometimes i get a 2.2 or 2.3 60' time, so maybe my car is a piece of ****? what do you guys think?

Get some Ingals TB's or new mounts and then turn the 1/4 and see. Adding more horsepower is pointless if you can't put it to the ground.

If its a pulleyboys pulley then you should just be able to swap it and use the stage 2 bolts.

Those sparkplugs are hurting you. You don't need 2 step colder plugs. Go with the stock ones or BKR7E (one step colder)

And you only need one step colder if you are putting on the 2.8 pulley

You need to order the Pulley Boys pulley made to swap out with the GM Stage 2 pulley ring/hub. You should by the new bolts with it, you will be glad that you did.

His sig says they are 1 step colder. They're just iridium plugs.

I didnt have to get a pulley puller. You just take off the belt then unscrew the bolts and put on the new pulley.

shift faster. That sounds like your problem. It took me a while to stop missing shifts and getting everything put together in a run. Do you have a detailed breakdown of your runs you could post up?

tire pressure? reduce your pressure that may help quite a bit. I cant remember the driver name but he was getting great times at the track with awesome launches. he said he was using 24 pounds on the front stock tires.

Ya Ive heard 23-24 psi in the tires is the best for the track. Also make sure your spare tire is out and your not going on a full tank of gas.

I would say it's your shifting...too slow?

My first run ever in this car was bone stock and was a 14.7 @98mph with a 2.2 60ft, the second run was a 14.5@99mph with a 2.1 60ft. You just need practice.

NGK NKR7EIX are 1 step colder, the IX just means iridium....if they were 2 step colder plugs, then it would read like this....NGK BKR8E or NKR8EIX.....

You have to hold First gear longer than you think. It should go to 30mph. So get a good solid launch and bounce the rev limiter atleast once (takes practice so you dont bog) and wait for the car to actually go 30mph. Then when you shift into second you dont bog or slip. The speedo will tell you 30mph when the wheels are going 30 and the car is going 20, so normally when you switch to second the wheels slow down and the motor rocks hard, and causes massive 2nd gear slipping.

This takes Practice practice practice. I can do it on the street really well, but even I have trouble getting the feel for it at the track since it all feels different. And I go every week.

So try that on the street and see if you feel a difference. IT usually only need to bounce once of the rev limiter sometimes twice.

Yeah I run 25 lbs. the normal 28 lbs most people use at the track is too much for these cars. When I run 25lbs I get way less wheel hop and trap at 100-102mph
