Cobalt SS/NA vs various cars

So i have my order placed for a 2007 Pontiac G5 GT and saw that its similar to the Cobalt SS/NA. I am not expecting too many times and specs to be out there for the g5/pursuit and figured that the best way to get an answer would be by comparing it to the cobalt. Which of these cars do you think the cobalt will be able to take and how close would it be?

2003 Mitsu Eclipse GS and GT
2004 Honda Accord 4cyl
2006 Honda Civic SI
2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT 6cly
2006 Mazda Miata

all cars are manual including mine

hmm.. im guessing that these are cars that your friends drive? we could probably take the accord and the eclipse gs very easily, the miata, tiburon and GT would be drivers races, and the the civic si would probably rape us unless you have the driver mod+5 like GTP lol

this is a really dumb question maybe but whats the NA ? is he talking about just the stock ss thats a 5 spd with no boost or s/c, if so then yea the civic would beat it definitely i think but the s/c would be alot closer though but maybe im wrong

im sure that some good drivers can get high 14's but i would guess that most people would get low 15's, i am by no means an expert on miatas though lol

04 Accord 4cly??? Don'r put that embarssment on your list. Why is it there? Its no contest. 300lbs heaver (maybe more) and less hp?

Si would beat you stock VS stock as long as he can drive
Mistu Ecslipse have a 264hp V6---he will smoke you.

Okay you can add:

Mistsu Ralliart
Mazda 3 2.3
Focus ST

let me correct you....v6 mitsu has 264hp in 2006...not 2003..03 model gt comes with 210 crank hp

this i know cuz my roomy owns one weve run and it is a drivers race

as far as the tiby goes, same deal except with a 6spd (i think) same engines just diff. car. maybe a tick more hp but still a drivers race

Mazda 3 2.3's are slow as *****. I test drove an 05 hatch, manual last may and was not impressed. good styling though!

i've also heard scion TC's are close too.

Well part of the problem with this "class" of cars is no-one leaves them stock for long. A stock SS compares favorable with all those cars you listed. You are not going to get smoked by anyone on that list except the new eclipse.

With mods on the SS which are cheap and easy to do you'll be faster than all those cars (if stock) (except for the eclispe and Si if you can't row gears fast).

Even semi-modded the SI would destroy us. My friend has one and ive driven it multiple times and raced him a few too. Rolling i destroy him cuz i have torque, he has a honda. But from a dig once he hits vtech im done. The SI's run 14.9 stock. We don't therefore we lose. Let me tell you VTEC is a biatch.

LMAO.

the Si s are no joke. the thing with them is, you need to be able to drive to get speed. it's not like a stang GT where you just put it in drive and mash the go pedal. i've beaten an Si ONLY because the kid had no idea where and when he should be shifting it. i'd prolly make the same mistake my first few trips through the gears, but this was awful.

as far as a Tc... i think that a 2.2 would be fair with a Tc, but the 2.4 eats those alive. on paper they should be a lot closer than they are in the stoplight gran prix. on a 1/4 i think it may be quite a bit closer.

No problem. The 4 speed auto in that car would be alot slower then the 5 speed.
