If you've got $17k to put down on an SS/SC, I'm sure someone would be happy to finance you for the rest. Payments I'm sure could be quite manageable after that. With the GMS pricing right now, you could easily find one for $20k if not $19k.

Are you kidding? Many of us would be quite happy to be in your situation. You will have no problem buying whatever Cobalt you want. You could probably pay cash and walk out with anything other than the LT Sedan or SS with the current deal. If you want an LT or SS.. finance the extra 3 or 4K.. Interest rates won't matter on such small amounts and your payments will be so tiny, they won't matter either. I don't know how long it took you to save 17K, but based on that it probably won't take you long to pay for the few K financed.

I would just get it on a 5 year buy, interests rates are great right now, keep 7g's in the bank, invest the other 10g's. 7 g's would make quite a few payments on your car. By the time your 7 g's run out, you should have more saved up. Thats just me though.

if you bring a suitcase full of cash, im pretty sure you can walk out the door with a nice SS.

the dealership will make a better profit that way, im sure they wouldnt say no,... but this all depends how long it took you to get that kind of cash.

Got mine for $20,500 with GMS Pricing. Everything but XM Radio and OnStar. If I were you I would put between 2-3 grand down and keep the rest in the bank. Try to get yourself a GM Card too. It's great to have. I had a 500 rebate from GM for the car and I had $1500 in GM Card earnings that I used towards the car. Free Money!

dealer ships do not make as much profit off of cash sales as they do finance. Many banks will give the dealer a kick back on the finance. So not only is the dealer making money off the original purchase they are also getting bonuses. My brother works for a local credit union here and works in the department which processes all of these transactions back to the dealers... some of them are making out pretty good because of this

Thats fine with me, they got me a lower rate than GMAC and my normal bank doesn't do auto loans.
