Cruise control
Cruise control
Well after i thought i tested out every single feature of my car i leave the city and test out my cruise control. I press the button on my steering wheel to engage cruise. get to my set speed, decent rpm (3000) and press "Set" i see "cruise engaged" or somethign light up on my display for less than a secnod then disappear. after about 25 minutes of fiddling with different gears, rpms, speeds, etc, same thing keeps happening.
Weird... is it a known problem for this? Dealership can fix it with minimal effort i imagine? It just doesnt seem to want to... well... engage lol (and yes i know how to use cruise haha ive had it on my other cars lol)

mine did that too for just a bit, but i figured out that with my car i have to continue to hold the throttle while pushing the button. for example, most people get to their desired speed, let off the gas and push the button. i, on the other hand, have to keep on the gas when i push the button or else it wont engage. so if i want it at 65mph i have to keep on the gas and it actually engages at like 66 or 67 and then i just hit the minus button to get back to 65mph. thats how i do it, but it could be different for your car. maybe a faulty fuse?

yours works at 25mph??? mine only lets me go as slow as 40mph, thats it.

yea but when mine says "cruise engaged" it doesnt even stay up for a second, it like "blinks" on then disappears.
i had the cruise work once in that duration of me trying for like 6 seconds then it just cut out
mine just totally stopped working like he said. about a month after i bought it. i would hit the cruise and it would just flash but not inguage no matter what speed i was going....well 6 months later i took it into the shop and warantee covered it. said it was a clutch position sensor was out
Mine has the same problem... do you drive with your foot resting on the clutch? If so that is the problem... it inputs a code in the computer and disables it! Just unhook the neg. bat cable and reset the computer it'll work after that!
I had that problem....is the light on your CC button lit and stays lit when you press it??? Mine wouldnt stay lit...so I took it in and the button was sticking.....they put some lube on it and it works great!

anyways i put my foot on the foot rest and pressed cruise and sure enough it works. looks like me having a heavy left foot was the problem
thanks guys hahaha
i was gonna say the clutch as well. Some people ride the clutch SO much that the position sensor will get settled to the depressed position not allowing it to engage. That is why they tell you not to ride the clutch.

haha i just usually keep my foot hovering over it while city driving. im trying to re-train myself to keep my foot way the **** away from it lol
This was a part I recently replaced on my SS, it was about April or something amoungst that lines. My Cruise stopped working but the light would light up on the cruise button. I had a short in the harness that connects to all the controls on the steering wheel. It was pretty bad. Worked like maybe 1/4 of the time. Dealership will fix with out a problem.
Thankfully this is the only time i've ever had to bring it in.

I had this exact same problem shortly after I got my Cobalt. It turned out to be a short in a wire or switch or something. Warrenty covered it, but it took them over a day to fix because i guess the switch they had to replace was in a hard to get to spot. Cruise has worked great since. I have the error code the computer was throwing from the short if your interested.
