Debadge the Steering wheel?

Has anyone tried getting the bow tie off the steering wheel? It is just stuck on there? I was thinking about replacing it. Don't know what with yet, was just thinking about it.

I haven't tried it, because I like the badge. The shape of the steering wheel itself, plus the gold bowtie (which is "raised", just like the exterior bowties) in the gray circle looks good to me. Better than having the logo "engraved" into the steering wheel like they did in the 1990's (and some still do now).

I agree with you halfcent, if there was a way to get it off i'd be in for sure. I'd love to get rid of all my bowties. I took off the one on the back and carbon fibred the front one. The wheel caps and steering wheel are what bugs me now.

sorry but debadging it isnt cuz some1 doesnt like a chevy if thats what u think, the gold is tacky and ugly, it sticks out and is wayyyy to big, taking it out is a good thing makes the car more stealth like. its not disrespect to chevy its personal taste. ive take out my rear emblems and want to take out the wheel caps and the steering wheel one also.

I thought the badge on the steering wheel was painted on? It just looked raised in the center and painted really shitty. I think it looks bad, and I would be interested to know whether you could get it off.

If they were silver they would be stayingon mine. Gold is too tacky is right. The back bowtie on mine isn't even put on centered with the trunk lock. Pretty lame if you ask me. My front one is getting the gold painted black and the chrome staying. I think I am gonna cut a black vinyl bow tie to cover the one on the steering wheel and might even try it on the wheels. Proud of the bow tie not proud that the designers can't see that gold is a stupid color to put on such a nice car.

on mine it looks like it can be lifted with a small flat head screw driver. Just have to work on all angles of it to get it off.

Back on topic....

I took mine off. I just used a flathead screwdriver and (carefully!!!!) started to peel back the emblem. I used a second screwdriver at one point just because it made it easier to keep it where I wanted it. There's six little 'clips' that hold it on there. Just be careful you don't mess up the steering wheel itself. When you go to put a new emblem on there (assuming it's flat), you'll want to dremel down where the emblem was because it's raised in the center and would look really bad if you don't. I have some pics of mine somewhere if you want to see.

WTF why ... I once knew a guy who fully debadged a Dakota and put a ? where the logos are... I thought it was the coolest thing I ever seen .. Only people who enjoy cars get a kick out of guessing what the model is going down the road .. I like clean looking debadged cars ..

I would think you could just Bondo it or something like that or find some sort of cover and glue it on ... Never even thought of doing it but the Emblem is annoying ..

if you have an 07 or higher steering wheel i noticed that the hhr ss has the same wheel but with an ss badge in the center instead of the bowtie. i've been trying to figure out how you would take off the front cap of the steering wheel so i could swap.

Heres a thought, and I have researched...... The trailblazer SS, the steeringwheel emblem is the exact same size as ours. Only diff is that it says SS. I wanted to get that and out it on my car, but the only way to get one is to order a whole trailblazer SS steeringwheel airbag or get one off a totaled SS.....goodluck
