Scratches by front right headlight

Hey guys,

I've been noticing an increasingly large amount of 1-3 inch, light scratches by my right front headlight.

Curious thing is, it can't be something I or another person has done. The only parking lot the car has been in was at a private airport in a secluded spot (no cars could park next to it). Other than that, it has been in my driveway or my garage.

I've been washing her so gently, drying with chamois even more gently.

After the first day off the lot, it had two scratches up there. A week later, it now has eight.

Perhaps dirt or gravel is being picked up and something about the design of the car is flicking it over to that side? Has anyone else noticed scratches up there on their car?

Any ideas about what it can be would be great, or solutions..

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Cracks in the head light? Ive had the problem with my 03 Silverado.... I used to live in texas, and due to the heat... when u wash your car.. if its hott enough... it can crack your headlights... i was told this from the chevy dealership... if u got a cobalt... under warranty... then chevy will replace it hands down..... either that... or since the one crack is in it.... more just grow... u should get it fixed asap, its only going to get worse. hope i was helpful

He didnt say anything about cracks.... the scratches sound like brush rubbing against the car... maybe one bush you drive by snages it... also when drying I use softer towels than I dry myself with just buy a big fluffy towel and wash it 3 or 4 times to get rid of the fuz and you got a great drying towel

3 words Microfiber Polishing Cloths and a good cleaner wax or polishing compound then polish and wax!

I agree with that.

Meguiars makes an awesome kit with a clay bar, that makes the scratches vanish.
My beef is that my Cobalt's paint seems too easy to scratch.

I'll look closer at mine but the only problem with my Paint is the chips in the front of the hood & I even have a couple around the rear wing so I got some touch up paint & I'm gonna touch up the chips on the entire car & then have the invisa bra installed a week or so later.
I blame my self for the chips as the first snow here in Iowa I jumped on the freeway & it's like the DOT blasted the road with outragous amounts of sand as I was hearing stuff sandblasting my car within a 2 mile streach so I exited as soon as I could & feel thats to blame for the chips
I have to get use to owning a car that sets low to the ground as my Tahoe was up so high the chrome bumper took all the abuse as I had one chip on the entire truck & it was a 1999, when I traded it off the dealer said it was the cleanest 99 he had ever seen as far as scratches & chips the paint was flawless!

I think all auto makers are trying to save money on building cars & they tend to skimp on the paint, all they care about is making money to hell with making it last that way they can sell you another car in 3 years
