Clicking noise
Clicking noise
Well when i am just reversing or in first, sometimes shifting to second, i hear this clicking noise, not all the time, but often enough to drive me nuts. It sounds like there is a rock or nail in my tire, but i have checked numerous times and i see nothing...it sounds like it is on my front left tire or that area...
if anyone has any idea what it could be please let me know, ill take anything...

There have been numerous threads on this topic. I have the same noise. I have still to get any answer as to what the noise is. I know it is coming from the front end, possibly something on the suspension or the axel. The dealership always looks at it and tells me they couldn't find anything. I even took them for a ride IN the car and the mechanic HEARD the noise - and still said he couldn't find anything. Sometimes I get sick of having to complain about the same problem over and over.
OMG. I have the same thing, and it is driving me crazy. I am trying to tune my car with HP Tuners and I thought I was doing something wrong. It's when I shift from first to second from 3k rpms up. It sounds like a rattling clicking noise.
I don't normally drive with the windows down, so that's why I heard it today.
Anyone WTF this is?

well i met up with some others today down at woodward, and i asked them, they said it either could be my dif clicking, but i dont think it is, then also heard it was the clutch, that a lot of them do that, and it shouldn't be anything to truly worry about...that was my understanding.
Mine makes the same noise. According to the dealership GM said it was one of three things. Drive train, Clutch or Hubs. Well they replaced both front hubs and the noise went away for a couple days and now is back. So it goes in Wednesday night for more diagnosing.
My SS/SC has only 2400 miles on it and it does the same thing, I've been told that it is most likely the LSD that is making the clicking noise, they said it shouldn't be a problem but I have an appointment on monday for them to check it out to make sure.
Well, I dont have the LSD, and I hear mine coming from the back when I got teh windows down.
If I accelerate quick, or back up quick it does it. Just as you all have said... it's a random thing.
I even had it go thru tech at an atucross, and as the guy grabbed the rear wheel ( to check various issues that can arise ) the car clicked... he looked at me and said "why does it do that?"
I replied.. "Dunno... been doing it since day one"
I thought it was the brakes, but I've swapped the pads out, and the rotors are new. Thought maybe it was a piston on a caliper sticking, but I don't know.
I never heard about teh axle / hub issues. That's not comforting.

as far as i have been told from multiple people now is that it is the hydralic clutch...and that just about every single one does it, and that is it nothing to worry about...so i just kinda deal with it...even tho is it really annoying
If it is doing the noise in either direction (forwards or reverse) it deffinitly can not be the clutch, the clutch is allways turning the same direction. I would personally say the noise is from the cv joints on the front axles.

Unfortunately, the dealer has replaced both my CV Joints and Axles and the noise came back about 500-1,000 miles later. My clicking noise occurs when I accelerate hard or shift or downshift. Basically whenever the car has to rock back or forth hard. I am so ready to call GM and tell them to buy the car back. Unfortunately I have such a low car payment and 0% interest, I don't really want to give that up.
I have a simular problem. I am good friends of the Tech here at the dealership I work at so he sat in my engine compartment while I drove around the parking lot. He found that my cat is only about 1/8" away from the stab bar and the torque of the engine makes it vibrate against each other.
They are supposed to try and get it in in a few days to see what it might take to fix it. It's only 5 days old

Took my car in for this today. The tech had no idea what it was, he tightened up all the bolts for the front suspension and the engine/trans mounts. That didn't fix the problem completely, but it seemed to help a little bit.

I found this site today because of the clicking I have on mine, just passed 3200 miles and today it started clicking real loud on right turns. I was thinking I had a bad CV joint and searched google, brought me right here. Hope someone posts a fix for it.
I just had my clicking noise cured yesterday. The dealer had to replace the half-shaft axles and it fixed it!
Take it in and explain how others have had the same issues with the half axles. The dealer should replace them under warranty.

My clicking noise appears to be gone. I have not heard it for 2 weeks now, ever since I took it to the dealership 2 weeks ago for a tire rotation and to complain about the clicking again. Cause of trouble = faulty motor mount. They replaced the motor mount and now no more clicking! I am still waiting for the noise to come back, but so far so good!
