dammit this is only getting more confusing
Axles and half-axels are the same in our situation. Our front-wheel drive has half-axles, also known as half-shafts.

This is great news. My husband has been thinking this the whole time. I am going to make an appointment to have another dealer look at this possibility. Maybe I can then call off the Lemon Law Attorney's. I really love my balt. There are not many in my area, especially the Sunburst Orange, I think I am the only one with this one.

The service shop couldn't see any physical issue with the half-shafts (said everything was tight and secure), but upon replacing them the snapping/clicking noise stopped. So that was definitely the issue. It must have been something in the CV boots or the ends of the shafts.

I fixed mine a couple of weeks ago. My problem actually was that my Cat was hitting my stab bar while it was under a load ( like taking off in first or just shifting into second) and was easier to duplicate while turning right. I loosened the bolts that mounted my cat to the manifold and all exhaust clamps and give it a little twist in the opposite direction.

It's been a couple of weeks now with no noise anymore.

Pretty ironic when my car is in for the same problem. They told me they fixed it, we'll see. I will ask them what exactly they did, if they even fixed it.
