the thing is,

none of our cars have turbos on them or we havent taken that step to turbo charge this car

i know some people were talking about it but never went through it yet

The car is brand new, so im not sure if anyone is going to risk a new car getting broken and not getting fixed due to the turbo.

Then there's us supercharged guys with the SS. We are trying to work with the supercharger to get more hp out of it without voiding the warranty

i was figuring it was too soon but wasnt sure since there is a kit out already for it, i want to get the kit but iw anna also see some reviews for it first, the only reason i got the ls is to turbo it or else i woulda got an ss but the ls looked easier to tune, i guess i just wait till people get used to thier car and start modifying, thnaks.

i saw that but the whole reason i didnt get an ss is becasue i saw a lot of potential in turboing the ls with the 2.2 so thats the route im gonna take similar to the phase 5 cobalt

Thats exactly what I'm doing. In fact, mine goes in July 11th for the first phase powertrain upgrades. Rods, Pistons, and Valve springs for the engine; Torque Converter, LSD, High Pressure Pump, Torrington bearings, and Raybestos Blue Plates for the trans. Pretty much straight out of the GM tuner build book, except I'm keeping my 4T45E trans instead of using the race 4T65E. Will take 2 weeks. I'll be posting a new thread once it's done. The turbo kit isn't ready yet. Should be about mid August. ALL STREET LEGAL!

Bro...how much coin are we talking here...5 grand, 10? How much cash do you all think it would take to get about 270 hp out of an SS/SC? Do you think the 2.4L would be easier and cheaper to tune? Your thoughts are most appreciated

Your right, it's not cheap. I'm looking right now at about $12,000 when its all done. I have many other posts about this project here on this site.
As for getting more umph out of the 2.0, I haven't looked at it too much. I know Gravana is making a turbo charger for the 2.0 SC. Yes, a twin-charged application. I know GM build that SS 272 SEMA concept. It used a CAI and probably just turned up the boost on the charger.
I don't know of anything for the 2.4 yet.

I'm still torn between adding a turbo kit next summer or waiting for the GM S/C to be release (if it isn't already) for the 2.2L. I'm sure GM could fit the A-pillar from the SS into my LS to house the boost gauge...but I'm not sure if an approximate gain of 60hp is worth an approximated cost of $3000USD (afraid to see this in CDN) not to mention any required rebuilds...guess I'll just wait and see .

turbo is the way to go, there is a system out there for like 2700 and it gets you 80 hp so i mean thats definately worth it then you can build the engine internals and boost even more

I would also have to take labour costs into consideration because I can barely cut a loaf of bread let alone work under the hood of a car ! The price of the turbo sounds appealing and I haven't ruled it out, it's just the number of modifications which may be required over that of the S/C will more than likely end up costing me much more in the long run...but it'd also boost a hell of a lot more and leaves more run for additional modifications (unless the one you mentioned is already stage 3) .

well the one i listed is a stage 3 but in comparison to other cars turbo kits its really only a stage 1-it has the fmic, fmu, turbo, lines, manifold, piping and that is what any stage 1 kit should have a stage 2 would be doing internals and upping the boost, then stage 3 would be just going all out crazy on it and doing the tranny work, and as far as buying the ss--why would that have been a better turbo canidate? i would have had to remove the supercharger anyway then its a lower dispacement engine on top of that, in my eyes the 2.2 has much more potential which is why i bought that when i could have bought the ss, do u see my logic here.

What i want to know about is the turbo on top of the S/C, that sounds good, but there are bad things that go along with turboes and S/C's the valves get screwed up. But idk i need to see this.

Here's a start, of course you wouldn't need all of the parts, but GM has Intake, Exhaust flanges, copper gaskets ect.

270hp out of the SS/SC shouldn't be hard at all. From what I remember, the SEMA SS/SC was around 270hp with the functioning RAM air hood, intake and exhaust. If you were to do the I/H/E and looking into raising the boost 2-3 psi, I think you'd be more than pleased with the results. Heck, just the I/H/E should net some nice gains.
