I have an automatic trans. When I go to parallel park. I put the car in reverse but when I step on the gas the car doesnt move for about 2-3 seconds and feels like its hesitating. That just doesnt seem normal to me. Anyone else have that issue with their automatic cobalt? :mad:

I am going to have it looked at this saturday, my recall for the airbag is getting fixed as well.

I have had that happen to me only after I was going forward.

I felt the same thing happen also when I was being stupid I guess. I was trying to get across the street. I didn't see the other car coming from the right so I stomped on it. It was raining pretty good so all the tires really did was spin and it felt like the transmission gave up and hesitated to go forward.

The Cobalt along with all other GM products has an electronically controlled auto trans, not only does it take time to perform the actual shift the car will not shift if the TCM feels the cuurent operating conditions could damage the vehicle. It is best to wait 1-2 seconds after shifting into a gear before releasing brake and stepping on throttle.

I thought that was funny, wish I would have got a manual. I just figured for what I drive in... it would suck. Theres a road I take to work every morning... if your from around south east pa... about an hour north of Philly... there is a route 22... i take that to work and its bumper to bumper traffic.. at 7am when im coming to work.. and at 5pm when im leaving work.

i just thought a manual would have sucked

I see what your saying, but after a while you don't even think about it anymore. Its kind of second nature, the same way steering and braking are.

So when you're sitting in traffic, instead of going gas/brake/gas/brake, you just go clutch, coast, brake. It actually helps keep you entertained when you're in traffic for a while, not to mention you don't have the somewhat annoying creep from the torque converter always wanting to push you forward ;)

second nature or not, in heavy stop and go it make your leg darn sore it is a huge pita. i got an auto. but haven't noticed that hesitation.

yeah there should only be soem hesitation... not that much I ahev soem in my 02' cavy auto... I got the auto shifter imprver thingy from B&M though it helps
