Belt position LSJ SC on a LE5
Belt position LSJ SC on a LE5
I installed the LSJ supercharger on my LE5 motor. Kept the 5 rib crank, A/C, alternator pulleys; tensioner, idler and SC are 6 rib.
I cut off one rub from the belt. Does the belt work best on the front 5 ribs, leaving the back (engine side) open, or the reverse, leaving the front rib empty.
I had a bad squeal, replaced belt with new, quiet, but starting to squeal again. Currently I have it on the front 5.

Someone can prove me otherwise but I have seen members with 2.8 pulley on 5 ribs. I think the problem is not enough tension. You could either try the stage 2 belt or the oversized tensioner pulley. The pulley is cheaper at $18. The adjustable tensioner is way too damn expensive at $120 so screw that option. Here's the pulley. It requires some grinding.

And here's the stage 2 belt which was designed for the 3.1" pulley anyway.

I have the stage 2 belt on a 2.9 and the adjustable tensioner. It was a bitch to install, for some reason I couldn't find a belt in between the stock as size and the GM stage 2 hat was 5 rib and double sided
