2006 Cobalt ss/na Internal dash light failure

Team,

I am having an issue that started as intermittent and has as of today become a constant issue. My dash lights and gauge cluster lights no longer work. With or with out auto lighting on. I noticed this about a week ago and turned the car off and back on and they started working again. Happened again, turned the car off and on again and started working again. Yesterday and today, complete failure. No back light on gauge cluster or ac panel. Checked fuses under the hood, and in the fuse box on the inside of the car-all good. Checked exterior lights all good. Please help, I cant find anything online that stated this is a known issue and money is tight right now so cant afford a trip to the dealership

Use a multimeter to check for wiring continuity.

Pulled the fuse and it looked good. Put it back in and they are working again(under the hood). Hope it was a contact issue. Thanks for the replies peeps. Really like this site. Lots of helpful info.

its the fuse. and even though to our eyes it looks fine even the slightest fracture in the fuse will cause the fuse to fail. if it happens again just replace the fuse

just go with me on this but check your brake lights and running lights. if those go out or there is a fault in that system it will cause your dash lights to go out as a warning that your brake/running lights are messed up.

hmm ya if its not the fuse or the running lights then i would say its an electrical problem which i can't help diagnose without being there. do you still have warranty?

then i would say if you know anything about checking wiring and voltages on a circuit. have at 'er. if not find a friend who is. or bite the bullet and pay to have an electrical tech diag it for an hour.

Well if you think its the dimmer switch get a multimeter and meter the switch. The switch should just be a resistance pot so set the meter to ohm's and get a base reading across the legs that have wires connected to them. Then turn the switch if its good the resistance will change if it doesn't its bad.

However from what you are describing it sounds like a loose or broken wire or possibly a bad crimp.
