that's always the way it is ..... I rushed (the last nite of the 0%) onto an 06' SC and I took what was on the lot and didn't get a G85 (ARRRRRGH!), then they go and extend the 0% and like you splink.... I ponied up for the extended warranty. I never get what I want!

oh well, it's still better than a caliber

I don't know where you got that warranty but it isn't a GM one. GM offers 4 year/75000 mile and 5 year/100000 mile extended warranties.

I'm in the same situation though. I bought my LT 3 weeks before the 0% APR/72 months deal and got the 5/100000 extended warranty. Dammit.

Dealership can sell extended warranties through other companies, they don't have to be GM.

Exactly. I drive over 12k a year, and this car is going to be a keeper, so I ponied up and got a 5yr/75k warranty with no deductible.

Bear in mind that the new 100k warranty GM's touting has a deductible. I'm sure it can be removed...for a fee...

Don't sweat it too much...all the warranty "added" was powertrain only, from 60K to 100K. Its not as big a deal as you think....you probably did better taking the incentives, and adding your own aftermarket warranty for the 06

The new GM powertrain warranty does NOT have a deductible .....and it transfers for free as well if u sell the car . The 5 yr/100000 covers ALL GM vehicles . Also Roadside assistance is now 5 yr/100,000 miles .

Does this affect Canada too?

The Cobalt already had a 3 year/60,000 Km warranty with a 5 year/100,000 km powertrain warranty. Does our powertrain warranty now extend to 160,000 Kms (100,000 miles)?

Never mind, found a link. I guess they did extend it to 5 year /160,000 kms.

They just need to update the website now. Thats pretty good. GM needed to do that. With their competition offering really good warranties, they needed to follow suit.

Yep, got my '07 with ext warranty, 5yr/160000Kms. only $1000. Apparently it covers everything except the brakes and the clutch. I was told no strings attached. I also read the papers. No strings were attached, and there wasn't even any tiny print. (Unless i really need new glasses!)

Yup factory extension of powertrain warranty, roadside assistance, and convienence service (rental car). Good on all light duty vehicles and passenger cars. Does not apply to medium duty vehicles like c4500 trucks. Also, this applies to all 2007 vehicles so even if you bought before the announcement you still get it.

Hehehe. If i get stuck with a rental, i hope it's Bradleys' black SS. Thats fun, just not as much as my SS SC. Eh, its a rental, drive it like you stole it!

Correct...the news article I read said it had one, but I just checked their official press release, and it doesn't. That's good to know.

GM will not lose any more money for the simple fact that it's a powertrain warranty not a Bumper to Bumper warranty.

I'm willing to bet that 90% of GM's warranty claims are not related to the powertrain.

However, GM will be able to advertise a 100,000 mile warranty which will bring more people into the showroom and increase sales thus making them more money.

I am in the process of getting a 2007 cobalt LT. I'm happy to hear Gm stepped up and made a better warranty like hyundai did.
