Didn't go to the dragstrip, played with G-tech instead

Due to the 2 straight days of rain we got here, the track is closed tonight. So I dug my G-tech out of the attic and had some fun. I went to a empty stretch of 4 lane highway and made 4 runs. For the first 2, the road was ever so slightly downhill, so the 3rd and 4th runs I made on the same stretch in the opposite direction. All runs were made in "D" with traction control on and holding the engine at 2,000rpm. I only had about 1 gallon of gas left and am using only 93 octane. The car has 1400 miles on it. Here are the results:

Run 1: 15.67 @ 92.4 mph
Run 2: 15.48 @ 91.6 mph
Run 3: 15.65 @ 93.2 mph
Run 4: 15.55 @ 92.8 mph

Average = 15.59 @ 92.5 mph

(0-60 times were flashing up as I was driving, but I couldn't write them down They were around 7.2-7.5 seconds)

I have read that the G-tech is pretty accurate on 1/4 mile times, but the mph is a little on the high side. Still, thats not too shabby for a totally stock automatic 4 cylinder. I hope to make it to the track next Thursday.

Gtech always gives higher mph than the track but usually close on the time. Probably runs more like 87-88 mph

You need track times now. If it's close I may consider buying one. I think the best a 2.4L Auto has done is a 15.8 stock, so it seems a little fast all the way around. It's not too far off though.

The Cobalt coupe is about 100-150 lbs heavier than an ION coupe. That's enough to shave off .2-.3 seconds. I will take the G-tech with me to the track to directly check the accuracy and get some video as well.
