2.4 Exhaust?
Hey guys.
First off, I wanted to know what size the diameter of the tubing was. Especially what it is at the muffler inlet.
Also, what kind of exhausts do you guys have? Any custom set-ups? I put 2 Dynomax Super-Turbos on my Monte and I love them. I was thinking of the same route for the Cobalt instead of a can type deal or something that costs 600 dollars.

I Dont know about that. I believe it to be 2.5 all the way. But I have the Corsa Touring. LOVE it. Very deep and not too loud. But if you want louder ( which sometimes I would have liked to have) then get the sport. It has a more pronounced bark. I should have got the sport but i dont like annoying people. Definitely feel the performance gains too.

Yeah, when I was under there to paint my muffler casing, I was excited to unbolt the exhaust somewhere and put a few different mufflers up to the tubing to see how they sound. That was shot down in a matter of seconds because the bolts to do that are in the middle of the car. lol. Not somewhere by the rear suspension like I assumed.

Stock exhaust behind the cat is 2.5" until right before the axle. Then it drops to 2.25" over the axle and into the muffler. I had a custom exhaust put on by a local shop (1st-Try Engineering in Robinson) where they made it a full 2.5" mandrel bent over the axle into my muffler which is a straight through 2.5" twin loop design (Mugen design). It sounded good... then I had the cat taken off in favor of a straight pipe... that made it kinda loud and obnoxious, but gained me some power. I have a video clip online that I can pm you a link for if you're interested.

It sounded real nice when it was first done. Then as it wore in that it started sounding a bit off like when I was driving it. But I'm glad to hear that it sounds better.

Pioneer has some great head units that have adapters for iPods. They even have the kind that will allow browsing and choosing the songs on the actual head unit, as opposed to just an audio input jack where you'd still have to browse the iPod on the actual iPod.
they also make inline FM modulators. basically, it goes in-line with the antenna hook up. they work pretty well, used on for the XM in my dads impala.
i have an alpine with it built in in my BMW. it's REALLY nice to be able to control it from the radio, but if i was going that route in my balt, i'd get the blacktie radio so that i can continue to use my wheel controls and maintain the OEM look. not too many aftermarkets ever look as good or last as long as stock.

Actually, Pioneer has units that interface with the steering wheel controls. I think PAC makes them. You can continue to use your steering wheel controls, and have iPod control on your h/u. That's my ultimate goal. But I need to go fast first.... so funds are spent on go-fast toys.

I had 2 Pioneer aftermarket radios and had no problems with either. I have also had an older alpine radio and also had no problems.
BTW: There are a few double din radios. But they generally look terrible. Pioneer has one...
