Can you name all the Drop In Air Filters?

Ok guys, I took my K&N CAI off about a month ago because I couldn't get my car to run right. It either ran too lean, or too rich. Now, I want to do a drop in air filter with the airbox mod,

what other filters beside the K&N E-0777 can I use?

And Which one would be the best?

Also, when I do the airbox mod, the filter will only be held on by a clamp.

Should I use electrical tape to secure it safely to the tube so that the filter doesn't fall off while driving?

I mean I really miss that sc whine. I want to put my CAI back on but I can't. And the drop in with airbox mod will probably give me similar gains.

fram makes their air hog filter for all the apps that K&N makes theirs. Look the up the e-0777 part number in K&N and check the application then just bye an air hog for the same app

AEM dry flo part number is 21-2110DK. Put one in last week, fits perfect.

No! Never EVER buy fram filters. Period. I have three horror stories (one including my fathers "new" truck)

1st story : Oil filter. My father buys a 01 ram with a 318. Time to change the oil. SO after removing the fram form the block with a wrench because it was on unusually tight we promptly replace it with a wix brand filter. What was not done was to check if the rubber gasket from the fram filter was still in the ring inside of the filter. (which is ususally been rolled then the filter has the gasket pressed halfway into it. That rolled edge makes the gasket nearly impossible to remove unless done by hand with a screwdriver, Fram filters however dont' have that rolled edge. Found out hindsight on that) Well he put the wix on and turned the key after filling the pan with 5 quarts of RP 10-30. The result was three quarts on the driveway. After removing the wix and checking to see that it was the right size at the local parts store we finally notice that damn gasket stuck to the block.

2nd story. Ford powerstroke. Boost intake. This individual had a edge power programmer 5" exhasut and said CAI.During a dyno pull the filter colapsed adn was pulled into the turbo, sliced and diced, then ended up in the intake, valves, and even on the exhasut side of the turbine. Motor was fine, but still.

3rd story. Honda H22. Owner bought the fram filter a week ago then hsi engin began to knock very loudly at all engine speeds. After a complete dissassembly and rebuild he replaces the old filter once again with a fram oil filter. Same problem. The filter is diagnosed and after testing it it's flow rate was less than 9gpm, whereas a Wix flowed 30 and a K&N flowed 27, a Purelator flowed 28, and a Mobile filter flowed 30 as well.

NOw as to how I got ahold of these stories. Well I spend a lot of time at the local garadge BSing with a friend there.

Bottom line, fram builds sub par filters. They else are they $2-5 cheaper?

as far as the K&N drop in filter.......

I just got one, stock air-box bottom won't go back on because the K&N filter doesn't have the indentation like the stock filter. (bottom of air box has that raised center section 05 SS/SC) There is no clamp to hold the filter onto the intake tube. However it is on there quite snug.

Whats the deal with this thing?
