2 quickies

got stage 2 and still havent gotten the proper reflash from the dealer, between working full time and needing my car everyday for work and the tech that originally worked on my car either being sick or not being in when i do actually have an opportunity to drop it off, it ahs been 2.5 weeks already. Hopefully getting it flashed early next week, however i do have 2 quick questions, if i dont flash my car and put a 2.8 pulley on there, then techincally since i wouldnt have the 7k redline i wouldnt have to worry about my injectors going static on me, or would the car be running to lean with the factory tune? And i have no problems with my tires but i can gather that our tires suck ass, i hear its best to go with 235's anyone having any fitiment problems with them?

1. If you put the 2.8" pulley on the car without a reflash or even run the Stage 2 pulley and injectors without a reflash over 3000 rpms, you are looking for trouble my friend. That is not the way to start off modding. Good things come to all those who wait for their reflash!

2. 225's are a tight fit on the stock wheels, but still a good upgrade. A few have squished 235's on the stock rims, but it's not recommended.

thanks alot, so i shall wait for flash, how bad is it if i dont have flash and am and have been running the 3" for almost 3 weeks, should my service advisor perhaps show a little more urgency towards my situation?

It's not horrible, but I would stay out of boost. The pulley isn't really the problem, it's the change of injectors that will be the bigger issue. It takes less than an hour to do, so I would force the issue with the dealer.

You need to get the reflash asap to compensate for those injectors.

Ouch! The injectors won't necessarily fail either. You could end up dumping to much fuel into the engine which can be just as bad as not enough! The car has no idea it has bigger injectors and a smaller pulley, so the PCM thinks it has a bigger pulley and smaller injectors which means it is not giving the engine what it really requires = BAD! Tuning is vital when doing any changes to your air/fuel mixture especially in conjunction with adding more boost. I would defiantely take it easy until the reflash is performed or you could very well end up with a blown engine which is awfully expensive!

Technically the engine will retune itself and cut down on the flow of fuel it is pulsating out if he lets it go long enough. Which doesn't mean you'll be okay, but less likely to flood your engine with fuel. Second...I suggest having a whole new set of spark plugs ready for AFTER you get back from getting the reflash. That means just because you have the reflash, don't drive it hard. Your spark plugs are more than likely fouled by now and will not work properly...

just looked at my plugs and they look like ****, called the auto stores around and the best i can find are some double platinum autolites, i have read the forums about plugs, but can anyone tell me if these are one step colder, or should i just go with the coppers for now till i can get some NGKs? Thanks

We'd need more info to know if those were colder plugs or not, but I'm guessing they're probably in the stock heat range.

Just run the 3" pulley until you get the NGK's to be safe. The swap ony takes a couple minutes

You want NGK BK7RE plugs. Those are one step colder plugs. Gap them to .40-.35, opinions will vary on this. I gapped mine to .35. If you have an Advanced Auto parts, they stock them. Some NAPA places carry them as well. Autozone here had no idea what the hell they were. I was only able to find them at Advanced.

Chris-

PS. Glad you got it flashed. Most reccomend dis-connecting the negative battery cable for about 5min. to reset the PCM. Not really sure if its a necessity or not, but I did it just for the hell of it. You may/may not get a CEL (check engine light), supposedly because of PCM short term memory....(thats at least what I was told by another forum member).
