this is a huge marketing mistake by GM to have a non s/c SS AND s/c at the same time for sale. Can't wait for my car to plumette in value now, and hear all the stories how honda guys beat a cobalt SS..and how they swear they beat an s/c one, etc.

I'm not so sure it's a marketing mistake, the non SC/SS is probably more affordable for some. As long as it still looks like the SC/SS it should sell well, also I doubt your SS will plumette in value....after all it's a SC/SS. You have a hell of a car at a very good price, it's a cool car so just enjoy it and don't worry about it's value. JMO

Dark Age is right, just enjoy your car man. Besides with the Sky Redline/Solstice GT coming with a turbo 2.4 making over 235 hp for 07, you just may see some SS's outrunning the SC . I personally don't plan on racing mine it's just going to be my new sweet daily driver.

If anyone is wondering i'm going to name her Silhouette

Bobd1950 - the MSRP on a base SS coupe OR sedan is CDN $22,195. Mine came to CDN $26,154.01. I ordered every option except the OnStar/Side Airbags option.

I'm not sure if the dealers have all the info yet. My father runs a chain here in BC so we did it straight through GM. (I also paid less than the 26k above ).

Of course people that don't follow the Cobalt are going to be confused in regards to the models offered.

Yah but on a SC SS there will be a supercharged emblem where on the 2.4L there will not be so that should b a problem..which is why Im not taking my emblems off

Pretty sure the Non SC ss is offered in Sedan form only. Btw the Solstice and Sky will only have the 2.4 NA, no turbo.

So far as the emblem thing affecting value, I thought that at first but don't care now. I'm removing all emblems and only leaving the side SS ones. If someone wants to think it's not supercharged, so be it (especially if it's a cop....just kidding). If someone want's to 'hate' on it let em, I don't really care.

I wanted a soltice so will throw in my 2cents on that topic....I love the idea of the 2.4 Solstice being turbo'd, but I've been reading on them for quite a while now and it seems that what they're going to do is reduce displacement and SC it, quite possibly same engine as the SS/SC, though in the last months the turbo idea has been going thru the rumor mill more and more....but that's all any of it is, rumors. Never know til it's done and that's a while off anyway.
The reason I went w/ the cobalt SS was that my sonata tranny broke (again) while in orlando which is 7hr drive from home and it was going to be $1300 or so to fix this time plus had other probs, plus I had GM points to use w/ GMS pricing, so I just got the cobalt. At first had buyer's remorse for not waiting it out but now am very glad I have the cobalt. It's already proving itself in that I have made full use of the rather large trunk a couple times and hauled 3 or 4 people a few times, none of which woulda been possible with the solstice. In addition, it is a H.O. version that prob won't be available on the soltice for some time to come, still weighs about the same, and the convertible part is overrated imho. When I had a miata I only would put the top down here in the winter because I'd get burned driving with it down other times of year.

Nope NON S/C coupe and sedan in 06'

also dont people realize that you are already causing the problem by being scared of what some POS honda owner says about your chevy??? who cares if they cant tell the diff they arent very good with cars to begni with and maybe they should shut up

there is a NEON that looks just like the SRT4 and its not, there are women that look like men it happens let the idiots whine while the SS S/C whines past them

Err, the whole point of this thread was to let you guys know my COUPE is on the way, so yes there will be a coupe and sedan. Also, the Pursuit Coupe, Coupe GT, and Sedan GT are coming out for the 2006 MY (for all you Canadians).

As for the Soltice 2.4 Turbo, it's real and running around in test mules. I know this for an absolute fact.

And just in case you still don't believe my friends at C & G have a few shots that i can show without losing my job....

My bad, I appologize. I've seen talk about it but last printed article I saw on the thing was to the effect of using 2.0L w/ the sc or a turbo...said it had to do with it being setup for forced induction w/ it's internals (pistons, those special valves, etc)...obviously I wasn't well enough informed. I do appreciate the pics tho, pretty cool.
There's all sorts of test vehicle configs that nothing ever happens with...does your source think this thing is likely to make it to production? If so that should have some huge upgrade potential.

At this moment, it's all systems go. Output ratings have even been above 260 bhp for certain mules. exhaust systems have been located in different areas of the rear too (such as stacked vertically in the center).

But of course you know as well as I do that things can change oftly fast with the General. No question there will be a higher-performance version, and with the technical advancements made to the current 2.4 i'm hoping they stay with the current configuration.

Some advancements:
- coil-on plug
- cam phasing
- VVT
- digital sensors - crank, cam etc
- oil cooling jets
- 1g corning potential for the oil pan

I'm assuming you mean the SS/SC? I don't know if it has them but it's a well built motor so it must have something. Anyone know?
