i just finished my first real modification tonight.....

I recovered my door panel inserts with vinyl to match the dash and top of the doors... i like it much better

the passenger side turned out just about perfect, there are a few wrinkles in the drivers side, but i didnt want to tear it apart again tonight. i may fix it in a couple of weeks.

it can prolly hurt resale if you make it a color other than black (or a color that doesnt match your paint)
otherwise...itll just look nicer

Excellent work!

Very original. It is the little things like that that really add up.

I was thinking of doing mine in red, as I have a red Cobalt. Any thought?

warning.... get high quality vinyl that stretches easily, if not youll have major problems wrapping it around the various contours of the panel... i learned the hard way lol.

it looks decent but its gonna get way dirtier than the plastic looking factory stuff ive got. i think ill stick with my stock black plastic . if you use some eagle 1 tire shine on that plastic inside it keeps a great shine and stays dust free. its also helping keep the dash from fading here in the blaring florida sun. just dont get the tire stuff on the leather or clear plastic and youll be fine.

i never had plactic stuff, i had light gray cloth that was slowly getting darker bc the factory i work at is dirty as sh*t lol. plus this is a very non-pourous black vinyl, so it wont get dirty at all, and if it does, ill just wipe it clean with a damp rag.

and btw.... anyone that does this, use a high het glur gun when reinstalling the insert... i used a low heat one, and my friend pushed on the panel and it popped out. the high heat ones dry harder and would be less likely to detatch once they are dry. so i guess i might as well redo the one with wrinkles while i take them apart lol... ill post better lit pics when i get time.
