Tuning Stock SS/SC

Ok, so I just recieved HP Tuners and my car is still stock. I have plans for it over the winter but it is goin into storage soon so I will be putting the stuff on in the spring. Anyway, I want to know if any of you have tuned a stock SS/SC as to get as much power out of it as possible until my other mods are installed. Thanks

Since my dealership refuses to install stage two I'm thinking of going the HPTuners route.
So I am also interested in what kind of gain just being stock is with the right tune.

Well it's hard to say how much power could be had from tuning a stock vehicle simply because every car is different and there are hundreds upon hundreds of parameters that can be changed and modified. I remember months ago speaking to a guy on here (Jmc) who was messing with HPT and he said he was confident a stock SS/SC could net at least 15hp from tuning alone.

I haven't seen a stock Cobalt SS/SC logfile, but I know my truck was detuned severly from the factory. I haven't taken her to the dyno, but I dropped .4 tenths and gained 4mph from tuning my truck alone. So it's likely I gained at least 20hp (probably around 30hp) .

Best thing to do is do some logging with your car in stock form, then post questions and suggestions on what to change on the HPT forum.

I agree, I was just curious if anyone had done it on here just as a comparison.

I beleive there are a few people here that have done this. I can tell you this. Simply by tuning a friends cobra he pushed another 20whp out. That car was really rich from the factory so a buddy of ours leaned it out a lil and got another 200 rpm out of it. You will definately see a difference. Just remember once you tune that bad boy your warranty is out the window. Programming changes to a vehicle are really frowned on by auto makers. Sure you can go back to a stock tune but the evidence is left in the logs.

From what I have read, there is no way for the dealer to tell is the car has been tuned or not. If everything is left stock (except the tune), then you shouldn't have any problems.

My warranty is gone anyway, I turned over 36000 miles the day after I got HPT. I understand that if I am goin to play I have to pay! Besides, I wont let another dealer touch my car anyway after what I have went through with them.

A little off topic, but I haven't seen him post in ages, anyone know what's up with him? I know he had some big plans with his ride and was wondering how it all turned out.
