I've been noticing that my car has a ticking noise coming from the engine when im at a stop, it almost sounds like subaru's 2.5l 4cyl, sorta that piston slap but really low. Anyone else hearing this noise? The ticking is not the exhaust because i know how that sounds like, this is completely different.
not here

Yeah. I have that too. Its only there for a few minutes til the engine warms up after a cold start. Theres this couple that own an SC that BEAT THE LIVING ***** off their car and it ticks like a ****.
It's probably just a little piston slap. Try this. Put your foot on the brake and give it a little gas. If it goes away, it is piston slap. It's completely normal, especially when cold.. GM changed the design of the piston skirt in 2007 to emilinate this complaint - notice I didn't say problem.
Piston slap is the sound made when the piston rocks back and forth in the cylinder. As the piston warms the skirt expands, minimizing the clearance and sound. It is especially noticable on forged pistons, which due to their density, expand more, requiring a larger piston to cylinder wall clearance when cold.
