Hit the Governor on my base cobalt

170kph....now to learn how get rid of it, of course im not gunna use base rubber at high speeds these pinny **** tires suck. I'm just leasing this and probably won't buy it out, I am going to store these tires after iv'e gotten use out of them and then grab some aftermarket.

This is a copy/paste of a post i did some weeks ago, worked well for me.

Hi, first thing i want to say is that i am french Canadian so my english is average...lol
I had ordered an ls coupe with the sport package, 16' wheels, ebony interior etc... Dealer calls me back and tells me i will have to wait 6-8 weeks to have this exact car but he can deliver me one with 15's within a week. I said i want 16' so he made me choose 16' from their aftermarket selection for the same price and got my car on may 3rd. But when i tried the car, my top speed was 107 mph or 170 kph!!! I was very sad and complained to my dealer that they are supposed to reach over 120 mph (124 mph Car and Driver) and if i knew that the car was governed to 107 mph, i would have waited 6-8 weeks. So i met the guy they call ''The Magician'' who is the electronic guru in the dealer service center. I was the first test he did for the Cobalt and the only thing he did was to change the program in the car computer by switching the tire size from 15's to 16's and it worked!!! It took him 20 minutes and all the staff was very happy with the result. I have reached 190 kph, about 120 mph and i did not touch the governor again. I have to try it back again because i was with my girlfriend and she is pregnant and... So just go to the dealer and ask them to flash the car programmation. I have 205-55HR16 tires, maybe with the crappy base tires, they won't do it but try and play safe.

PS: i love my car so far, it's very fast for a base engine, can't wait to see numbers for the 2.4 SS
