I want to say it's about a foot or so before the muffler - right around the rear-axle area. Can't remember the exact spot, though.

The stock exhaust drops from 2.5" to 2.25" right over the rear axle.
As soon as it starts to bend right before the axle is where you would want to cut it.
Then just weld a 2.5" mandrel bent peice of stainless steal tubing to that and the muffler, good to go.

Here you go!

dont forget theres a 2" bottleneck at rear O2 bung. You could make ur exhuast 5" if you want that 2" restriction is always going to hinder performance.

Just buy a catback exhaust and everything will be the same size and it will all fit good with mandrel bend?

thats in the downpipe though right? because changing everything after that will net some gains. i plan on getting the xtc dp sometime soon so it all will be 2.5.

and as for buying a catback- i'm trying to save money:p i've spent like maybe 150 dollars on my catback so far including the magnaflow muffler. personally that doesnt compare to buying a 600 dollar catback for the same thing almost, other than stainless. its cheap if something starts rusting i can just replace it for cheap again.

Ya thats the DP. Everyone buys catback's but if you really want gains you need to replace the entire exhuast. This is expensive but i bet spending $300 on a DP will yeild more gains than $700 on a cat-back. Either way you're going about this the right way, good luck.

I hate to bring back an old post but there is no reason for a new one and this and this proves that I know how to search.

My question is if you replace the 2.25 section what is the best muffler to get that will "improve" performance and still not be to loud. The next questions is, does anyone know if the resonator decreases the performance? If it does reduce the performance what does the car sound without it or is there an after market one that is better? Any info would be great, thanks.

No one?
