Which kind of Motor Oil for winter/summer???
Which kind of Motor Oil for winter/summer???
Hey all,
I want to go to Canadian Tire or Costco and buy a crate of Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil for my SS-SC. Thing is, I'm not sure which one to buy for the winter and summer? 5w30, 10w30, whatever you know lol... I'm a newb at Motor Oil.. My friend at work tells me that in winter, the less thick it is, the better or something like that. All I need to know is which Motor Oil do I buy for winter and which for summer? Or which one for both (if the same)? Thanks guys!!!

Extended Performance is synthetic....I use it in mine...its just has extra SuperSyn to allow longer intervals between changes. I change the oil in my Silverado every 10k with it. Stick with the 5w30.
Alright well I'll get the regular fully synthetic one then in the 5L bottle. But umm, what else would I need for my oil changes? I want to buy everything and only go to my garage for the labour. So I need the oil, and a filter or something? What else.. ??
Some rags...of course a filter, LOL!

You need 6.5 Qts of Oil so that is 6.15 Liters of oil. You will need the catridge filter, a 1-1/4 inch socket with a 10" extension and a 18MM or 19MM socket (can't remember since last time). Also you need to jack the car up to get underneath so jackstands would be useful as well.
Is it just me, or is Mobil 1 better than Castrol Fully Synthetic Motor Oil? Because my first oil change was with Castrol Synthetic and I noticed my little percentage meter went down quicker than when I first got the car.. Maybe it's just me lol... Darn eyes being so damn cautious for these little things... What does anyone else think? Or just as long as I'm using 100% Synthetic Oil, it's good??
I Have used the Crap Tire Formula 1 synthetic it alot cheaper and pretty sure it is made by the same company as Mobil 1.
Get the socket for the oil filter lid makes things easier.(it can be boght at most auto part places)
