Hey guys I have an 06 SS/SC...is there a CAI or ram air intake that doesn't throw a cel code? I need one that doesn't throw a code EVER...not just for some people. Is there such thing?

My AEM throws me a code when I push the car fairly hard, but only since the weather started to turn cold. Never had a problem in warm air. It goes away after a while tho, so it's no big deal.

The Injen intake probably has the best reputation for not throwing a code. If you get a code though, it means you just need to recheck you installation. Our cars are very sensitive to the slightest changes made.

7000 miles on my AEM with no code, and 5000 on the KN filter before that with no code, either.

if you're this worried about a cel, you shouldn't do ANYTHING to your engine at all... that's the only way to say that you definitely will not get a cel... no performance mods whatsoever

I'm not "WORRIED"... but I would like to get info from people who have a CAI who has not had a code...ever.

Besides...since I have literally 280 miles on my car...I'm not in any hurry to mod it until I get all the facts on what it is I am putting on it...including something as simple as a CAI.

Thanks to the people who answered

I just had my car worked on last week and GM has a reflash for the P0171 code. I have a K&N Typhoon CAI. I told the service writer I installed a CAI and he said they had a reflash for the PCM. It was covered under warranty too with no problems.

On my service order it says Bulletin 060604033.

Hope this helps

Yup ^^^^^^ I had the airbox mod pretty much since day one and always had a code.

They finally had a reflash to get rid of the code, and its been off ever since.

I have the fujita and it threw codes, then i took it back off and made sure everything was tightened up, didnt connect the support so it would fit better and haven't had a code since...that was a week ago though. Also yesterday I had the PCM updated and WOW! no more idle surging when under a heavy load and no p0107 code. So i would totally recommend for anyone with a CAI and/or if you get that idle surge to get to your GM dealer and get that reprogram!

And as far as intakes go. I am LOVING the fujita (no i didn't pay 350 bucks for it either!). Just make sure everything is nice and tight and you should have no probs. Our cars are just sensitive when it comes to air intake.

drop an AEM dryflow filter in.
Proven dyno gains 7-8HP and not a chance of getting a code.

GM service wont even bat an eyelid at it either.

best $40 i ever spent.

yeah I forgot to mention, I put a AEM dryflow on my fujita because i didn't want to deal with any issues with having an oil'd filter.
