Best Aftermarket Airfilter Ever

JP Magazine, ( jeep mag.) published an article on what the best air filters were out there. It was tested and rated according to ASTM Standards. AEM was on top, for best flow, best filtration, and particle entrapment. To my suprise K&N is a piece. After this, I will never get a K&N. Check it out.

AEM was on top with 99.4 % flow eff. , Airraid was 2nd with 98% or somthing, S&B was like 97 % K&N was dead last with 94% eff. K&N held the most dirt in its filter before clogging up though. It was tested with a conical filter, hold on Ill see if its on the net, but its in JP mag. ....

it will be on jpmagazine.com soon. Not on there yet. I think it runs a month behind.. Its in the latest issue. I posted this so people would stop thinking K&N is the best thing since sliced bread; like I did. It is very suprising. Airhog was another that did well. Anyways.

oh man i wish i could dig up the thread where i got into a huge argument with this one ass clown about how KN filters were shitty, and his argument was that they are used in all sorts of race cars. i told him he was wrong and he was all like "K and N is the best stuff you can buy, its dyno proven 5-7 hp."

no, they actually go through what material each filter is made of, and K&N was a cotton gauze sandwiched between metal (not good) and with oil, it screwed up MAF's and was a mess. I have bought a K&N for just about every vehicle I have owned, but filter technology has changed. I will get an AEM or AiRAID for now on. When I can, I will write up what was exactly wrote.... stay tuned.

i find JP mag pretty credible, and considering what they put filters through offroad, our cars will never see it.

Here are the actual numbers from the mag.

AEM - 99.4% effieciency
AIRAID - 98.43
AMSOIL- 98.29
K&N - 96.13
S&B - 98.05

Dust CAPACITY (in grams)
AEM - 7.26
AIRRAID- 126 g
AMSOIL - 39
K&N - 167
S&B 96.8 grams

All were 9" tall 6" diameter tapered conical filters
Tested according to the new ISO 5011 Standard

And tested by an independent ISO certified test facility, for the argue.

ok the others have great airflow but how well do they trap the dirt and protect the engine, and I have also never had a cel problem from a k&n filter!

best shown in % eficiency. Meaning 99.41 % of all the particles sent through the AEM filter were trapped. K&N had 96.13, thats around 4% getting by, and sucking into the engine, I dont know about you but makes sense to me.

About 7 grams of dirt is around a 4 OZ wheel weight. In mass.

Granted, K&N had the highest dust capacity, at 167 grams. about 4 % of that went into the engine. Dust capacity is how much it will handle before it collapses or chokes.
