Oil Pressure Gauge Installation Question>??
Well i just ordered a C2 Short sweet autometer electric oil pressure gauge and i have a few questions refering to the How-To on installing it. It comes with a 1/8" NPT sender and a 1/4" Adapter. are these the correct sizes to get this to fit or what sizes am i needing? the how-to says sizes but it dosent say the size the whole is so i do not know what size fits. thanks
I think getting to it might be a huge pain...isn't the sender unit near the oil filter?
Also...I think you are asking the wrong question...unless you know of another place to put the new sender, you are going to have to thread in a T coupling first, so you can retain the existing oil pressure sensor...and that means a fair amount of room to maneuver all this stuff in.
If that is where (I think) the sender would go, you've got another issue...its tough to see after installation. So...if there is an oil leak...its a major pain.
You might want to weigh the advantage of having the sensor, vs the risk of creating a oil leak that would lead to a loss of pressure...

i think i figured it out, i would just need the adapter from the how-to to attach to the sender thats included with the gauge i ordered.

You will need the Autometer metric adapter for sure. I wish I had seen that how to before I installed mine. I built a "crack pipe" out of brass tee fittings and pipes so I could install at the stock sender location and keep the stock sensor. The how to is MUCH neater. If anyone wants to use the stock location to install a gauge, jack the car up and remove the starter. It will give you plenty of room to work.
For information only, GM does not recommend any thread sealant when you install a sending unit, I think they ground through the threads. The mechanic that helped me (a GM mechanic at the dealer I work for) put thread sealer on mine, so take that for what it's worth!
Just curious, Why did you go with a short sweep electric? Full sweep mechanical is cheaper I think. They are not hard to hook up and do not leak.

i went with all C2 shortsweep. reason for it all were bought on ebay for cheep, i dont need a very fancy gauge, not going FI or anything. just needed something so i dont have to you that stupid DIC thingy again.

Water temp would be pretty easy too I think. Just gotta put a t fitting where the curent sensor it. Just make sure the engine is cold first. LOL
i shouldnt need a t fitting, i dont for oil pressure, im jsut taking a bolt out and replacing it with my adapter adn sensor. maybe someone can chime in ! and yes working with hot collent is jsut not good
