Traction!! Cobalt v. SRT4

First of all this isnt a war story.
Just think about how alot of people complain about there traction and how bad it is when most of the time there are is under 250whp. How the hell can an SRT4 with stg 3 at like 350whp have pretty decent traction. What do they have that the cobalt doesn't. besides obviously the tires what else? Does buying wider rims make that much of a differece either?

SRT-4 = Lag off the line = traction FTW after hitting power band.

SS = no traction instant boost and wheel hopping goodness all the way to middle of 2nd. woo hoo!

That's the big difference between the Supercharger and the Turbocharger... a Stage 3 SRT-4 isn't going to be making INSTANT BOOST/Torque like we are. Our torque is what makes our cars so traction limited (among other things).

^^^That is unless you have HPT, then you can limit the boost in first.

What is the gearing like on a SRT-4 compared to the SSSC.

Our 1st gear is so short.

I had an srt-4 and everyone i know had traction problems... basically we feather the clutch(AKA Burn the clutch alittle) at the line and then when you feel traction... dump the clutch the rest of the way

HP tuner works.I have first set up at 60% then all hell breaks lose in second.I think I need to drop it some more,I still get a little wheel hop at about 5k. I am trying not to burn up my clutch yet. I will let you guys know what % works the best.

I put my boost in first to 50%. It is nice to not do a burn out all the time. I need to raise the boost to 100% after 5k Rpm's. It does help alot to limit the boost in first.

E-mail Torrie (link above) He can tune anything. We are getting ready to start playing with pulleys and injectors next week.

I actually plan to get my tuned, the guy on this site Drailss has got his tuned there and made 280 and they say they plan to get 310ish so hopefully i'll be seeing somewhere along those numbers, especially since i have more mods than him.

i doubt he can. i would suggest going to another dyno and seeing if the numbers are compareable because 260 stock probobly isnt right. there are things they can do to the dyno to inflate the numbers..

The next time I dyno it I will make sure its on the other dyno, besides he had two other cobalts on the dyno before and after me. One had a stage 2 made 278whp and stock with 3" exhaust and CAI and made 237whp.
