Fairly certain no one has made a dyno run before and after (at least I haven't seen any posts to that effect).

Definitely - and inside. Big difference. Mine is more noticable outside than in because of the scoop.

I'm fairly certain I picked up a couple MPG commuting, but I didn't check it critically. The throttle response is better for sure.

Another reason to add one is if you plan to do other mods. Cams would be restricted by the stock intake. Exhaust work is more effective if the intake side is freed up.

different cars benefit from different mods. In the Gen I Neon, for instance, exhaust work had practically no effect while a new intake manifold and CAI was worth big HP. The Ecotec isn't as intake limited, so the GMPP intake doesn't do as much, but it's still worth a few HP. Seems that most of the gains on our NA cars is in the exhaust side.

You need fuel and air to make power. Getting fuel in isn't an issue with modern FI. Therefore for tuning purposes an engine is an air pump. Anything that makes it get air in and out better is good (which is why superchargers and turbos help - they force in more air).

thats where I got mine from
I will do a before and after dyno, but it might not be til spring, i got my winter tires on now and that might throw the numbers off a bit, along with the colder air, and its a mobile dyno that jsut comes to town once a week so it might not even come this time of year, i might have to take a look sometime soon

I will be doing the dyno for you guys. I'm such a nice guy I bought the intake a week ago and after I get it installed I will get it tuned from a local tuner and dynoed before and after.

Get the GM Performance Intake System on that web site (or from crateenginedepot.com, another supporting vendor).

Hopefully I will also be doing a few pulls Sunday. I plan to re-install the stock intake and do a baseline pull. Then re-install the GMPP intake and do a pull with it breathing through the hood scoop. And finally, a pull with the hood scoop sealed and the GMPP breathing through the stock lower air box. This should give us real numbers for all configurations, and see if butchering my hood did anything other than de-value the car .

I realize its not the intake you were talking about but i was just watching redline tv and they dynoed before putting the injen CAI on and after the install. It gained 6 hp from that but the car had an exhaust system already on it so im not sure if that changes the intake hp.

thought that might help in an estimate.

(o just to make this more irrelevant it was on a 2.2 but hey.)

if you take the air box behind the bumper out will that help the HP or just lose weight to the front end.

I took mine out and took a look at it, it weights next to nothing, and it doesnt appear to be restrictive, but if you take it off you will just be sucking air from the engine bay so i put it back in

We had another snowstorm here in Denver, so our dyno day may be postponed (you can't run with snow melting from the chassis and dripping into the dyno!). But even if we postpone, I still plan to do the stock vs GMPP testing and will post the sheets AS SOON as I get them!

Sorry for the delay. We are all bummed about this (the 3rd snow in a couple of weeks - this is getting annoying).
