Anyone else strip their lug nuts?
Anyone else strip their lug nuts?
Just last week I received a set of stock 16" HHR wheels and tires from an auction I won on Ebay.
I went to my friend's house (heated garage
) to put them on and when I went to torque down the lug nuts to 100 lbs/ft. a few of them kept spinning, and spinning, etc. Pulled them back off and a few of them looked like they had metal spagetti inside.
I used my Craftsman 150 lbs/ft. torque wrench, so it wasn't a case of inferior Chineseium tools.
A quick trip to the local AutoZone for the "Tuner style" lugs with the thin wall socket for $30 fixed the problem, but I was rather upset, to say the least.
Has anyone else had this problem? If not, be careful when tightening them down and watch for any problems.
