I work at discount tire and have been lookin for wheels for awhile. the widest wheel you wheel and tire you can use is a 8.0. an 8.5 might work but i would test fit it before you buy tires.

i think tire rack says they will fit but finding a tire that wont rub with 8.5" wide rims might be hard....let us know how they work if you decide to buy them, i want to buy those rims next summer and hoping to put 235/40s on

Those are the rims I want too. I was just told by local wheel tires shop that 245/40ZR18 are the tires to go with.

Thats a REALLY big tire for a Cobalt. 215/45r18 as we know is stock. 225/40 is gaurenteed to fit from experience of several members. I believe I have read 235/40 is good on stock suspension, but will rub if lowered.

I would take some measurements . Ive got a 235/45-17 on a 7.5" rim right now and have just enuff room to get a 245 in before it crashes into the bottom of the spring perch . That 8.5" rim will spread that 245 out even more .

Im curious on the offset of the 18x8.5 ? On a lowered car , I just cant see a rim/tire combo that wide working without clearence issues . When measureing for my rota's , I even took a 9" wide ZR1 wheel from my Camaro . The inside wheel lip hit the shock and the outside of the wheel still stuck out 1" past the fender line . I did have the A-arm propped so it was sitting at ride height even thought it was jacked up .

OFFSET is +35mm. Tirerack recommends 225/45ZR18 tires.
