Wheel hop....then

Alrigtht, on my way to work i was waiting to merge with traffic and when i finally saw a hole i went. There was a car coming at a decent speed so i tried to go pretty quickly and the roads were wet from rain earlier in the day. The tires started to spin and then hop violently, thats when i left off the accelerator and noticed that my ABS light was on and not going back out. A little further down the road it was still on so i decided to turn the car off and restart it. After the restart the light went out.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this before? Do you think i hurt anything?

I had an ABS light once. And it was only on for one ignition cycle. It wasn't in a situation like yours, but if the light hasn't come back on I wouldn't worry about it.

I pulled the code for my light later and it had something to do with the Electrononic Rear Brake Proportioning Valve.

The ABS light comes on when something happens to your transmission, causes being a major vibration, not always but also happens when you blow the transmission. I doubt you have anything to worry about.

There was an ice storm here a little bit back and while trying to get out of my appartment complex, all of the spinning on the ice caused my ABS light to come on and stay on. I also, quickly pulled over and turned the car off and restarted it. The light went off and I haven't had any problems since. I don't think you should have any problems.

I know the car does a system check on the ABS when you turn the car on so the problem that turned the light on was gone when you turned the car off and on.
I would not worry about it.
