nonwarrantied grooved rotor help
nonwarrantied grooved rotor help
I have a 2005 ss/sc with 21,985 miles. I just went to the dealer because the front rotors are grooved really bad. They have been grooved for a while but i finally decided to bring it in when my uncle noticed it after looking at my tires. It has even been at the dealer at least 4 times with over a week total and they have never mentioned it. The rep to told me that the warranty on the brakes is for 12,000 miles or 1 year and he has never been able to get them warrentied after that. That is BS isnt it 3yrs/36,000? It is not my driving as my car before this was a 1993 camaro and I had it for 50,000 miles with no break problems and drove it alot harder than the ss/sc.
edit: Is'nt there a tsb out for the rotors. If so can u post a link as i can't find it.
On another note the other day the driver door wouldnt open from the inside or the outside but i got it to the dealer before it started to work and they are going to fix it.

Brakes is kinda like wipers and stuff like that. They are considered wear items and WILL have to be replaced sometime or another so GM does not include that in their 3/36 warranty period.
My place doesn't warranty brake pads or rotors either.

There is a bulleting for the rotors. But u gotta tell them you feel insecure driving the car because the brakes shake blah blah blah. You might be screwed since u already told them they were grooved.
my tires needed to be replaced last month. They are past the wear indicator. I would say the tires(now custom slicks) lasted to 20000 miles. Guess I'm SOL inless there is a TSB out for it. I could go through a big puddle with hot brakes to warp them.

brakes are wear items like your clutch therefore they are not covered under the warranty
dude i got 9200 miles on mine and the rotors have been replaced once and cut the 2nd time and for the 3rd time theyre warped to **** and the service dept (at the very same dealer i WORK AT!!!! no less) said that its my fault cuz i ride the brakes....most of my miles are highway crusing and im very easy on my brakes...my bros coming up on 3000 miles on his g5 and hes starting to have trouble as well and its pissing us both off....any links to the TSB?? id like to take it and rub it in the service managers face ASAP

that's also a good way to hydro lock you motor!!!!
Unless there is a TSB they will not warrant the rotors. My 2000 Grand Am GT had a none problem and a TSB was issued. The rotors were replaced but it they eventually would shake violently when stepping hard on the brakes.
You are better off switching to the power slot rotors anyway. I've used them on each of my GAs and they last quite a long time.
My BMW x3 covers the pads and rotors for 5 years, 60K miles (everything is covered).

I think it's time to talk to one of the vendors about some rotors and pad my friend. Brakes are a wear and tear item, and are not covered under warranty. I believe DEZOD is a doing some killer prices on Power Slotted rotors and Hawk pads in a complete kit.
