My FIRST MOD!

So I get home yesterday and notice my tire looks a little low. I bust out the air compressor and hook it up. The gauge reads 0psi!!! Holy crap it wasnt just a little flat it was empty! I filled it up to 35psi (hot) and put it in the driveway since it was late and I had things to take care of.

I figured someone must have let all the air out on purpose, since there are a couple dudes at the place next to where I work that always glare at me as I walk into the office.

BUT, it wasn't them.

This must have happened somewhere on the way home from work, since I check all my tires before going anywhere and didn't notice anything at that time:

I called my dealership and asked if this kind of thing would be covered under warranty, but as I expected, its not. It counts as a road hazard. Understandable, but still sucks.

I took the wheel to Firestone today (in the POURING RAIN btw) hoping it could be patched, but my gut was telling me I was screwed. Guess what, always listen to your gut. lol

The guy said none of the firestones in town had that tire, and that he wasn't sure if any of the other local places would have it, so I ordered up a new one at tiresavings.com for $223 shipped. That includes the road hazard protection in case this ever happens again.

The funny part about this story is that yesterday was our secret santa gift exchange at the office, and I'm the lucky one who had the CEO of our company as my secret santa. He got me an 8GB SanDisk Sansa Mp3 player with Rhapsody service. A $249 value. Now with the whole tire thing its as if I bought the MP3 player myself. Ahhh karma.

oh P.S. - TODAY marks exactly 2 months of having the car. w00t!

Might want to edit the title of this thread; running over a nail doesn't count as a "mod".
