shitty way to start x-mas

well first of lets just say im lucky to be alive to write this (thankyou GM).

So heres the story. i was driving to MI for x-mas, when i started to feel alittle tired. so i decided i was going to pull off at the next stop and get some sleep befor finishing my drive. well unfortanetly next thing i now i wake up to the rumble strips, and see a gaurd rail coming at about 70mph. i tried to pull the car back onto the road, and would of given another 5-10'. i hit the end of the gaurd rail with my right passenger headlight spining the car to hit the front, drive side, and rear bumper along the gaurd rail befor coming to a stop, also taking out a 20-30' section of gaurd rail. needless to say the car is pretty much totaled but i walked away with just a bruise on my right thumb i love how everyone rates our safety so low, but how many people have had bad accidents and walked away. i managed to get my intake and a few other goodies off the car. i plan on getting another ss when my insurance clears everything. and sorry no pictures didnt have my camera with me and im now about 4 hr from where the car is.

Did you fall asleep on your way to the rest stop or did you fall asleep and slam the accelerator? Either way sucks.

Damn man, that sucks. Glad to hear you're alright. 70 MPH, huh? That actually puts a lot of confidence in my car, collision wise.

Glad to hear you survived.

Be sure to try and strip the Recaros out of the car if you want to keep them, they don't come with the G85 package anymore.

Sorry to hear that man...glad you are ok!

One good tip I always tell my students...always keep a disposable camera in your glove box. It can be a valuable tool. I got into a miinor fender bender with some girl about 10 years ago, one lane dirt road going 15 MPH on Dec 28th. It was on a blind spot on a bend. It was either hit her car, a huge oak, or turn into the lake. The road was basically a sheet of ice. We both slid into each other and damaged each others cars. I had a Ford Escort wagon which had the driver's headligh smashed and the driver's quarter panel pushed up slightly. Her car was a Toyota Camry Limited and hit had the hood wrinkled up, flat front tire and a whole bunch of other things wrong. I felt so bad, but there was nothing either of us could of done. I helped her to fix the flat and her dad came down from their house on the lake and wrote down all the insurance info while I changed the tire. The State Police wouldn't come since no-one was hurt to fill out a report, so I took pictures of the whole scene, my car, and theirs with a disposable camera.

Turns out, the guy gave me false info and tried to claim I hit his PARKED car! I was like woah, check out these photos! My step dad (also my Allstate insurance agent and was going through a divorce with my mom) was pissed already that I was driving my moms car. I had nothing else since I was fresh out of BASIC training and now this. Those pics saved my ass and nailed that ****** for fraud as well!

You're lucky you didn't cross the centre line and kill someone. Sorry but no sympathy from me.

^^That's why I want a good camera phone, so I can get some good clear pictures when it's important.

You're quick to judge someone on their first post. I'm a nice guy, just not one for a grand entrance. I'm not bashing xskier874, I'm sure he knows he did something stupid. Driving tired is just as stupid as driving drunk. Thats how people get hurt or killed. I see where you're coming from though. Next time I'll try to tone down the brutal honesty part as not to offend anyone.

But you're assuming that he was trying to drive as long as possible while tired. He said that he was tired, but was looking for a place to stop. He just got beat to the punch by sleep, and thus, totaled his car.

Everyone has an opinion, and I think that's awesome. But if you want to be a welcome and respected member on this forum, you have to think before you type.

I wasn't assuming anything. He said he fell asleep. I said falling asleep at the wheel is a stupid thing to have happen regardless. I'm just going to snip the long, drawn out post I had planned and apologize. Obviously xskier874 wasn't looking for sympathy, just sharing what happened. Me voicing my strong opinion on the subject wasn't necessary in this post and I should have passed it by. Sorry for derailing your post xskier874.
