It's not important, No big deal. Him being ok...is.

Did your airbag deploy? You should put up some pics so we can get an idea of how much force you hit with and STILL walked away with only a bruised thumb. In any event, I have newfound respect for the safety value of these cars. It looks like Chevy has come up with an ace in the hole here.

I'll vouch for Mike here in that he is a good guy. I hang out with him in Charleston on Saturdays as we're both into cars and in the military. I know exactly what it's like to leave for the holiday, and do a long drive each way. We usually don't receive much time or sleep in the military for special free holiday time. We also usually have certain requirements as to what time we can leave and limitations too. So when we get these special priviledges, we take advantage of them. I'm just glad to see that my buddy didn't get hurt or killed over the holiday season, and that he gets to enjoy the holidays with his family. Some people take that for advantage, especially since I cannot be with my family since I'm deployed this year. So to all those who jump on his case, lay off. Mike take it easy bro and enjoy the holidays. Don't worry about the car because it can be replaced. The only thing that matters is that you are alright. Have a Merry Christmas bro, and I wish you the best of luck.

Maybe Santa will bring you an EVO or STI this time!

-actually it pretty much was a frontal impact just more near the passanger headlight. the driver, passanger and passanger side airbags went off

I was curious about the airbags. Someone said that they shouldn't have gone off with a side impact. I wouldn't care if I got hit in the side or front or back or on the roof. At 70 mph, I want my airbag to go off if I hit something. Better to be pissed about it going off unnecessarily than laid up in the hospital a parapalegic.
Once again. Glad your with the living for christmas.

That's too bad about your car, but what matters, is that you are ok. Good luck on your next car.

Driving advice from a 50yo truck driver. If you get tired eat sunflower seeds and turn off the cruise control. Alot of people will start nodding after driving a while even if they have had enough sleep. It is just boredom, if you are eating sunflower seeds the process of getting the seed into your mouth and taking the shell out and discarding it will keep you awake, radio talk shows work too. If you do fall asleep with the cruise off, you will usually let off the gas and that may wake you up and at least you will wreck at a slower speed.

That is great advice as I have used this myself in some long drives. I drove 27 hours straight from Florida to New Hampshire, and used the sunflower seed trick. That in combination with Mt. Dew works like a charm! If you are beyond that though, just pull over.

Hell yeah, sunflower seeds are a great way to stay awake...I have my students eat them to stay away during class...great idea! I also have my CB in my truck so a good conversation with some truckers to keep me awake as well.
