Canada Pacesetter Monza Exhaust

I just bought a 2007 Cobalts SS 2.4 and am already looking for an exhaust system for it. I've checked the links and went to turbo tech racing and found the Pacesetter Monza Exhaust. Is this a good system to put on?

I'm kinda new to sport-compacts or even 4 cylinder engines (use to have a 88 silverado and a 85 Z28 camaro) I'm wondering what kinda HP gain a person can expect to see?

also whats a good decently priced intake? (like under $300)

Thanks

GO WITH CORSA TOURING!!! Stainless steel and It sounds awesome with no drone at all. Injen is a great intake, got mine for $230. It comes in a kit where you can choose if you want it to be a short ram or a cold air intake, so Its really versatile!

The Corsa exhaust you might free up about 10 hp. Corsa did a dyno test on the SS Supercharged and they said it made 12 hp. The intake might get you about 5-7 maybe? Either way they are great started mods that really unlock alot of potential from your ride. Just don't go with the cheap stuff, you'll hate it. IMO.

You won't really find many exhausts under $300 besides the pacesetter exhaust. The pacesetter is a 2.5inch catback with no resonator so it is pretty raspy and loud. As far as performance goes, it is pretty free flowing (no resonator) so it is probably going to give you the most gains out of any exhaust. It maintains a decent back pressure which is obvious when you rev the exhaust. Keep in mind that you won't really notice too much of a gain from exhaust in the first place. The exhaust is painted black which helps against rust but it isn't a stainless system so in a couple years it may rust.

So overall, if you want a raspy free flowing exhaust and are looking to spend under $300, the pacesetter looks like your only choice.

thanks for the tips.

i read about the corsa touring and would probably buy that instead of the pacesetter. But I don't make that much money to shell out $711.98. I also like my exhaust loud (I live in a town where the nearest cops are 75 miles or 120 KM's away, so there should be any hassel) and it sounds like that pacesetter really barks.

Orrrr you could go for the AMAZING General Motors Performance Parts Performance Exhaust system. It's loud and gives some power and is under the warranty, all for about $500.

Find a muffler you like and have one built, its cheaper (most times) and kinda neat to say you have a "custom exhaust".

Oh ok, well if you like loud exhausts then go with the Corsa sport. If you dont want to spend that much money then I'd do a custom exhaust. I personally believe in you pay for what you get.

I have the pacesetter and it sounds similar to a srt4 from what people told me. ITs raspy in the begining but it dies down later on. I called my dealer it does not void any of the warranty.

Im sorry but I have to add the pacesetter is not raspy at all it is very deep. If you havent heard it in person then dont call it raspy. Ive had a person say to me that they didnt know that cobalt come v6's its that deep.

So if you want a free flowing exahust then get the pacesetter. also about the rust it will only rust as fast as your stock exahust. I have no signs of rust and ive had mine for 4 1/2 mounths.

So its free flowing, does that mean anything bad that it has no resonator? Also, I am actually looking into purchasing this so I need some help here myself, it doesn't sound ricey does it. I'm going for the sound like the GMPP touring.

The muffler on the pacesetter does a exelent job of getting rid of the raspy sound.
The only time it has a raspy sound is when you first start it up because its cold but after that its deep all the way throught the power band no rasp at top end. Also the muffler was raspy for 1 1/2 weeks because it needs to break in but after that its been very nice.
when your crusing on at low rpms you can hardly here it but when go WOT its loud but not to loud.

If you want a sound like the gm touring then get the gm touring because all mufflers sound differnt. The pacesetter has my vote for exahust because it doesnt break the bank and sounds good.

I see that you have a high-flow cat in your future mods section of your sig, any idea who makes any?

The cat is acualy on the down pipe look on cobalt addiction and theres differnt brands on other sites. check the supporting venders sites and pick one you like. But if you get the pacesetter youll have to take it to and exahust shop to have it mounted.

Pacesetter/Monza is a piece of **** exhaust, don't care what anyone says...had one on the Cavalier...Great for 2 years, then rusted, sounded like **** and was just overall crappy. Changed it out and went magnaflow.

The GM Performance exhaust is 560 CDN, from the dealership by me.

no resonator = raspy...no way around it.

if you don't notice it then you probably like that type of sound...

go custom, its cheaper and you can get what you really want without having to settle

the pacesetter by itself is not raspy at all... once i put my downpipe on i noticed some rasp at hard acceleration, but before that there was zero rasp...

For the price of the Pacesetter you can install it and, if it's too raspy, have an exhaust shop put in a resonator and still be out much less than the other systems. Yes, it might not last as long as a stainless system but for about a quarter of the price if you happen to keep your car long enough for that to be a problem it's still cheaper to buy another one every couple of years. Besides, after a couple of years you might want to try something different.

I have a Pacesetter on order because I'm used to the sound of systems like the Ansa on Alfa Romeos (before most of the board was born ) and the Pacesetter is made in that '60's-'70's European sports car aftermarket exhaust style (Faza, Ansa, Abarth, etc.).

Thanks for all the help. I think I'm gonna go with the pacesetter or custom exhuast (maybe flowmaster). I was likin' the no muffler at all (How are you getting away with that in Red Deer, I've herad that place is crwaling with cops). But I'm moving back to Saskatoon next year and I don't really want be paying for tickets while I'm going to School.
