My Car is running fugly

Hey guys um maybe you all might be able to help me. I did the airbox mod but cut the box and used a aem dryflow not a k&n but i put it all back together and I started my car and it was running really rough well i forgot to plug in my MAF sensor so i pluged it in and my car still was rough i tried driving it but when i pressed on the gas my car just kinda puked and putted and sputterd and then took off like a bat outta hell. so im kinda lost i took it to the dealer and had them check the code and reset the CEL and they came up with a code for MAF performance, well i just got back home and my CEL came back on and my car keeps doing the sputtering then (only when i first start my car and try and accelerate) yeah so help please.

sorry if it doen't make sense im just pissed off
thanks to all who help

Did you ever touch the MAF??? It doesn't like getting the oil from fingers on it. It would also be a good idea to disconnect the battery for like 20 mins so the car can re learn

Yeah, sounds like you broke it. Start by returning your induction back to stock. Don't worry about the hole you cut in the air box. If it still won't run right, which I'm guessing it won't, then you probably fubar'ed the MAF.

hmm im a *******, you know if you have a rag in the intake tube its kinda hard for air to get through, man i feel stupid stupid stupid. thanks for the advice everyone but after taking it back apart i noticed that when i put my filter on there was a rag in the tube i just drove it for about 45 min at different rpms and everything looks and sounds great i didn't mess the MAF up so im really happy about that.

yeah by complete accident, i took it back to the dealer and my buddy ran some tests and says everything checks out he just told me i was lucky that rag didn't get sucked further up the tube he told me the rag was preventing air to pass through the MAF so thats what tripped the code. So yeah I feel really dumb and really lucky.
