has the lip on a ss sc changed from 2006 to 2007?

have a 2006 ss 2.4l and when i got the parts guy to order my lip kit he got the vin off of a 2007 ss sc in the show room... well i was under the assumption that it would bolt right up to my bumper.. which i see all the holes are there on my car that meet up to the holes on the lip BUT! there are these tabs that stick inwards from the lip all around the top of the lip... its no huge deal if i have to cut slits into my stock bumper to make them slide into but is this a desighn change from 2006 to 2007?

No, I think you just need the SS/SC bumper with the holes for the tabs.

well i thought i did all my homework before ordering my front and rear lip from gm but i guess i read wrong.. i thought it said on here that it would bolt right up.. all the holes are there to screw it up but the only thing is those tabs, so i guess ill have to get my body guy to cut the slits in the stock bumper... no biggie.. yeah id be easier to buy a front/rear ss sc bumper but not on my wallet lol..

Yeah from my understanding there is the stock base front and rear fascia, then theres the SS one, and then the SS/SC one which is the same as the SS one except with the holes for the lips

Yes , you will have to make provisions on your cover for the tabs . All the 05 and 06 lips have it too . And trust me , it doesnt look right if u dont use them . I hit a racoon that totally blasted off my lower lip and broke all those tabs off mine . I used double sided 3M tape around the lip perimeter to hold it . From a distance u cant tell , but if u look close it doesnt sit as flush with the bumper cover like it does when the tabs and clips are used .

Jus use a cut off wheel with a air grinder to make the tabs in your cover . Lay some masking tape over where ur gonna make the slot to protect the area around it . The tabs are right below the seem line on a SS/SC bumper .

awsome!.. thanks.. i was thinking about the cut off wheel idea too.. i also took a look at the ss sc in the show room and seen what the clips look like from the inside so ill have to get motormart to order me some.. seems like with some good measurements and some patients shouldnt be too hard..

ok this is nuts!.. i thought i was gonna hold off on installing the lip but my wifes buggin me to put it on so i took it to the local body shop and they are charging me 100.00 to paint the front and rear lip.. which i dont think is bad.. the kicker is when i went to motormart to order the clips to install the damn thing!.. i need 24 metal clips for the top edge of the the lip that cost olmost $7 each!! so the clips i need to install the lips are gonna cost more than the front lip!.. thats crazy.. gm sucks.. the funny thing is that that is my wifes price(my wife works at motormart so i get 20% over cost) i pitty someone thats doing this without the discount.. so far its 187.00 plus tax for the install hardware.. i only paid 425 taxes in for the front and rear lip!

by the way these are CAD prices since im in canada.. so for anyone that wants to know in canada how much this is gonna cost its
425 taxes in for the lip
213 taxes in for the clips
100.00 paint

738 total for me anyway.. probly would have been cheaper to buy a body kit!! but then install would be more also.. i dunno.. too late now i might as well enjoy it...

Im in the same boat with the clips .That damn racoon blew the entire lip off the car , so I lost all my clips too I can get them at cost thru the dealer , but on cheap stuff like that , the savings are not as great . Their prolly still 5 bucks a clip at cost .

Thats amazing your girl is pushing you to do this , they typically complain about blowing money on "dumb" car stuff

You should have used an adhesive like PL Premium construction adhesive... haha sounds drastic but it will sit flush AND it will NEVER come off again.

yeah usually thats the case with my wife! but when she heard i was just gonna put the kit in the attic and paint it in the spring or summer she said " well whats the point in buying it if your not gonna use it!.. you might as well get it painted and put on if your willing to spend the money." belive me i was surprised too, but i think my car budget is done for this year or i could be sleeping on the couch!.. hehe

got the lip put on today, motormart was good enough to let me use a spare lift, tooks lots of patients but i got it done.. in one spot you can just see the edge of one hole i made for the lip but its perfectly straight and looks good.. the clips i have to put on in the middle rear section of the lip is covered by a peice of foam padding behind the bumper so im gonna have to take off the bumper to install them but.. now i just gotta fab up a set of hole covers for the rear lip and that project will be done..

but if definatly will be receiving a drop this spring if i can round up the money it really needs it so polish off the look..

your forgetting im in canada.. the 2.4l ss was $23,000 here and the ss sc was $27,500! $800.00 wouldnt come close to giving me a ss sc.. and in all truth im not doing this to "look fast" and i didnt want a sc cobalt anyway.. i hate leather seats, i dont wanna pay for 18" rubber, having a sunroof dont matter to me, and i dont race either on streets or on a track so i dont need a lsd, other than that the motor is all im missing and 30 extra hp isnt worth $5000.00 plus interest over 5 years!
you ss sc guys are way too proud! i think you got ripped off.. lol
as far as the lip kit it was the most practical kit you can buy.. doesnt make the car lower, its plastic so more durable, cheap to paint and as far as total cost goes it cost me $3800.00 for my kit and body work on my old 2000 celica gt i had so i got of real cheap with $800.00..
but thanks for the praises,

pursuit2dr.. where in NS do you live..

i dont really like the "you shoulda bought an ss/sc" posts very much....
but i will say this....there are multiple ss/scs on the lot here in devon, and all the sticker prices are 25k or lower
I got my 06 ss/sc with sunroof for 24k
