Intense Stage 4-Switch to GM stage2...
Intense Stage 4-Switch to GM stage2...
Hey guys,
If i were to purchase the GM stage 2 kit, would they be able to mount the pulley on the machined snout? Im planning on getting a stage 2 to replace my stage 4. Only extra labor i can see would be replacing the injector harness, everything else comes with the stage kit...
Thanks,
Ryan

Really dont have the cash flow right now to spend on new tunes due to the weather. The intense tune was already right on the edge of lean, i guess they did it b/c everyone complained that GM's tune was very rich... well now that its cold, i get nothing but Knock. I really wanted to get a custom tune, new clutch etc. but money is tight, i think ima just go stage 2 and forget about it....
plus i dont have to be afraid of running lean and blowing up..

Intense said they would fix the tune for free if I remember correctly. Give them a call, and save yourself some money. They should stand by their product, and there tune should work in all weather conditions if done right.
i dont even get to get on my car right now... its very annoying driving around with 244 hp/233tq but not being able to get on it b/c the weather changed... i did have the money to put into my car, but i moved to VA and it made money tight.
So now im looking for the econmical stage 2...
anyone want to swap kits?

I would definitely call Intense, and have them hook you up. It's just bad business if they don't. 1-2 days down to ship-tune-receive the PCM is better than spending an extra $500+ and/or blowing the engine. You don't need to spend more money this way either. I certainly wouldn't let Intense get off that easy. Fight for your right to get a quality product since they should back what they sell. A few minutes on the phone will probably be all that it takes to clear this up man. Hell, I'll make the call for you if you want.
well they really need the car to tune it correctly and as soon as summer hits i would need to do it again thats 400 right there, and i get the dealer price on the kit for like 550, might as well go the safe/hassle free route...
You never know without a call man. Just do it and see what happens. It'll at least cover you for the winter. Later you could drive up to Jersey and get Tune Time to dyno tune the car properly if Intense won't back their product. A tune from them is about $400, and they haven't had any issues like Intense's tune have had so far. It's ultimately your decision, just figured broaden the horizion a little if you know what I mean.
yea, but is it possible for them to put the stage 2 pulley on the machined snout?
is the stage 2 that sluggish compared to a stage 4?
The mechanic who drove mine right after installing a stage 2 said mine was alot fast but i wasnt sure how much...

Check it out, stage II bring you to 246 horsepower, but not to the wheels, your intense stage 4 bring you to 244 hp to the wheels, but I understand the driving ability in the weather. I say you keep your stage 4 and just install gm stage II until the weather clears up
You have money to buy a stage 2 kit but you don't have money for a new tune for the S4? I don't get it.
I am running the Intense tune and I havn't had a problem. I see a few degrees of KR but it isn't the end of the world

My friend i have been in your situation when my friends and i installed a 60lb injectors and 2.7 pulley i had nothing but problems. If u do choose to spend the money you will lose some horsepower i did notice a difference but by no means was is like going from a vette to an aveo. it your choice but if u can tune it first that would be the best listen to Doc he know what he is talking about he may be able to help

if i remember correctly, Tune Time in NJ said that they make changes to their tunes for free after you have it tuned by them.
so if you want to have a safer, more reliable car, take it to them with a 3.0" or 2.9" and get it tuned for $400. then when you have more money or wanna take it a step further you can take it back to them and have it re-tuned to the changes you make.
and its a custom tune so you shouldnt have any of the common mail order tune problems

o and regardless i wouldnt get the GM stage 2 if you already have spent the money on the intense kit. just go get a custom tune to your current pulley, or a bigger pulley (if you want more reliability) and be done with it

hey sorry to kinda get off subject but I'm thinkin of gettin a intense stage 3 how much did u like the stage 4? pull a lot harder?
stage 4 was fine down in FL with the hot weather, it pulled like a beast. ran 14.0 with clutch slipping all to hell.
I live around Fredericksburg so ill see if Doc can help me out. Thanks for the input. But when i first got the knock i wasnt paying attention to my aeroforce, but i could here it...

Hell, thats like 2 hours from me....right up 95. This is an easy fix bro....lemme know and I can meet you up there sometime.
Cold weather will cause your car to produce more boost, colder air is denser. During the winter time your car not only makes more boost but also most of the gas available to consumers gets an additive that helps keep the fuel from freezing but isnt great for the octane rating. This combination can cause some cars that were running great during the summer to exhibit some kr in the winter.
My suggestion is either to pulley up to a larger size pully so your making less boost (also making it easier to drive in winter type conditions without as much torque) and thus less KR, or buy gas with higher octane from a reputable station with high turnover and no gas additives. A larger pulley from us costs 59.99 and takes 10 minutes to do. By far the cheapest fix to your problem. Then in the summer switch back to your smaller pulley.
