thick balck build up

thick balck build up

i jsut noticed that right under neath the muffler of my car there this thick black build up of some sort anyone have any idea what it could be... its like right under Keith the muffler...

but its not coming out of the exhaust tip ..its actually sitting right underneath the middle of the muffler...

sounds like road tar, dust, dirt grime buildup just clean it off, it will be there again soon enough

its definitely because it running rich but also there is an exhaust leak, thas a big sign of one

The muffler had a small hole in it to drain water out of the system, that water mixed with the extra carbon from running rich could have done that.

its under the muffler on the floor like dead center of the muffle on the floor there this dried up black stuff

Probably just carbon deposits that came out of your muffler at the same time as some water, so it left a black spot. This happens a lot if you also run CAI makes a lots more moisture run thru the system. If you have ever followed a car that keeps spitting water out the the tail pipe its because of the CAI.

Probably carbon. Is it powderlike?


I thought you meant on the exhaust when you posted initially.
