Gm Stage 3 pulley

Has anyone tried just the GM stage 3 pulley yet? What kind of power would I expect buy adding the stage 3 pulley to my stage 2?Also does any one know if the stage 3 pulley is made of steel or aluminum? Also it is listed as 76mm.Is that 2.9 inch?I keep getting 3.04 inch when I convert it.

Yes, but why? The pulley from each kit is practically the same size. I doubt if you would even see a difference on your boost guage.

The stage 3 pulley is completely compatible with Stage 2 reflash. In the installation instructions, it even says to leave the stage 2 PCM in during daily driving and save the Stage 3 PCM for the track.

I actually plan on getting the dual pass intercooler and stage 3 pulley without the PCM. The PCM is great and all, but unless you plan on adding nitrous, high octane racing fuel, and aftermarket valve springs, then it really isn't necessary.

This way, your car won't go into the GM computer system as "stage 3" so you may be able to slip under any warranty problems. My dealership has personally told me that they will completely warranty stage 3 as long as its completely GM parts. But make sure to ask your guys first.

Yeah, I wonder why they even made another pulley. It like maybe .02" smaller... 3mm is all I think. Isnt stg2 79mm and stg3 is 76mm?

EDIT: Google says 3 millimeters = 0.118110236 in, so maybe it gives another ~1psi over the stage 2? that might be worth it if the price is right, since it is stg2 tune happy

while it is a small difference it will increase your TQ not your HP but your TQ will get a gain of probably 2-3 lbs.

i think a custom 2.9" pulley and dual pass end plate would be best purchased as aftermarket

stage2 is closer to 3.1" and stage 3 is closer to 3" so a custom 2.9 would be smaller if it was like 2.89

From my own research:

Stock Pulley is 85.09mm (3.35 inches)

Stage 2 Pulley is 77.9mm (3.0669 inches)

Stage 3 Pulley is 76mm (2.9921 inches)

Correct. This is why I have the opinion that getting a stage 3 pulley would in reality be a waste of time and money.

Agreed for the most part, but some of us are warranty-******. And since pretty much any powertrain failure can be blamed on a pulley, it makes that extra 2 millimeters look a whole lot better.

Question: Do they make a 2.9" pulley that fits onto the GM stage 2 hub?

As for pulley sizes, I can make any size that someone would want, just let me know. Individual pulleys to fit the GM stage 2 hub are 50.00 for machined finish and 55.00 for polished with no extra cost for a custom size. Just to make it clear, I can make ANY size from 2.7 to 3.35 (even in betweens like 2.875, 3.025, etc.) to fit the stage 2 hub.
Hey Nate how have you been. I wanted to pop in here and tell everyone, nherbst454 made the 2.9" pulley I run. It fits perfect and haven't had a single issue with it. I bought mine a while ago too. Thanks again Nate.

I love my 2.79 pulley. i want more power and I am ready for 60lbs. right now I just dont rev it out past 6200rpm. it is torquey. a blast. 60lbs and a tune will be just the ticket if I get tires.

Exactly, it works great. The pulleys he makes are great quality. Get a polished one.
If anyone wants to see pics of it. I have pics of it installed and uninstalled in my garage.
