head gasket thickness ??

i was trying to find more info on which thickness is better for my app do i want thick or thin im going to build the engine all from turbo tech or do ya think i should buy else where?? i want about 400 give or take a little and 12 psi of boost so what do ya think??? i just want internals and solid mounts. for now and was unsure on the thickness of the head gasket. i do know that more than 15 i should get the head gasket with compreshion rings and have the head milled and top of the block.. to have a truly dependable engine. i know you can go higher before milling but your chance of breaking is higher ow yea it a 2.2 LS

bump

.040 thickness is what you need with an 87mm stock bore. Go Cometic as they make some of the best headgskets out there. My buddy runs them in his 1400whp drag car, his buddies run them in their drag cars, and I run it in my SS/SC right now. It's a great piece, and here is the link to the one you need for your setup if you use the stock 86mm bore pistons. PM me if you need more info about it, as it is the very same gasket I used in my 2.0 SC. Golden Eagle makes great headtsuds as well! You don't need the block machined or gasket adhsive for this gasket either, Over 15psi it is not necessary to O-ring the block either, that's just another approach to get the job done which costs a lot of money and time.

To my knowledge, thinner gasket = slightly higher compression which is something you would want for an N/A car but obviously not for you since you're planning on boost.

The only gasket I have seen used on the Ecotec is the Cometic gasket so I'm thinking that is your only choice...

Yup, and keep the OEM gasket thickness, unless you mill the head, then go slightly thicker.
