Check engine light

Well my check engine light went on about a month ago and finally I get a chance to take it to a dealership, now that it's stopped snowing, I took it about week ago and they cant figure out what the problem is. They keep telling me that they keep pulling different codes when they put it on the diagnostics. They tell me they know there is a problem but they can't find it. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Don't think I've ever seen a more vauge description of a problem...definitely want to find out what codes are being thrown, as well as any symptoms with the car. How's it running? Any weird sounds, smells, etc? No one can give you a good answer based on the info you provided.

no offence, but is that a serious question? you have to be joking around, right? may as well have said "Hey guys, my cars broke. Know what it could be?"

a lil more info would really help here

From what little info I read it sounds like a bad Control Module of some sort....

But definetly more info needed to actually diagnose it

Well when I took it to a garage they scanned it and it read rich mixture. When i drive it it gets a burning smell, and sometimes it hesitates and kind of jackrabbits.

So are they getting different codes or just the rich code? Does it keep throwing the same code over and over? That short description of symptoms does match with a rich car.

well today i just got some more info. They had to replace that catalytic converter and change the oil. the oil had alot of gas mixed in with it, too much. The cat was plugged up. They reflashed the computer annd nothing. They said the car is running better but still pulling a rich mixture.

Okay, there are several possibilities.

First, the ECM might be getting a bad indication from the MAF saying that tons of air is flowing into the engine, and hence the computer is trying to match with lots of fuel.

Or, you might have an injector that is stuck open or sticking now and then.

Basically, your injectors are for some reason open more then they should be.

IF the ECM took the reflash then its likely not malfunctioning itself. Though it could be getting the wrong info from components like halfcent said.

At least your under warranty!

I'll take a guess at a leaking/broken/loose/missing supercharger to intake manifold gasket.

I am going to guess at a faulty injector.
