Negatives Of lowering your car to much?

I am probably going to end up getting eibach sporltines but I really want my car to be lower then them. If I bought coilovers and lowered my lower than the sportlines will I do any damage to my car if I have good struts?

besides looking ridiculous, you will endanger the life of yourself and others if you do that. your maneuvering will be unsafe on the road. why on earth would you want to be so low?

I have the Sportlines and love em. I don't believe that they bring her down too terribly bad. Levels the suspension out nicely.

Not on the Cobey SS/SC...The Sportlines will bring you down a nice amount and still leave room for daily driving as well as possibly getting some slightly larger tires down the road.

#1 reason not to lower your car:
BROKEN AXLES!...increasing the pinion angle of the drive shaft causes more undue stress on the drive axle.

#2 reason, Too low increases roll rate. Your center of gravity may be low, but the roll center is farther away from your center of gravity.

#3 reason, youll look stupid going sideways over every bump, drive way and pothole.

Everyone has their opinion. I LOVE the look of my level suspension instead of the monster truck look. The axle problem will happen no matter what because our axles are tappered down, so when you lower your car and put more power to the wheels because of lack of wheel hop there is going to be the chance that you will break one or both. But think about how it will help traction issues as well as over-all appearance. You like yours ridin high, I like mine ridin level, to each their own.

As far as the SMG springs, they were bought from SMG but were actually Number 1 springs, too soft. Sometimes you have to pay a little more for something of higher quality.

The only reason you should be getting couilovers is to be able to adjust your suspension to perfect HANDELING. They are NOT the best wat to lower a car.

There are springs out there to lower you car with but The fact that everyone wants coilovers to lower there car really grinds my gears. Thats not what they are made for at all.

DO you want you car to handle well? Don't go with rediculous lowering.

Really If you wan't the best of both worlds, go with an airbag setup. They are a little more than coilovers (if your buying coilovers anyway these wont break the bank) But, you can have a nice ride when you want, and drop it to the pavement when your crusing downtown or whatever you kids do nowadays.

I want to handle better, im not going to be "slamming" it just for looks. Heh right now at stock I scrape too much in TN. Why on earth would I want to slam it and have to buy a new front end, just for looks?

But it's still going to be lower than the stock setup, so do I have to worry about axles?

yea i wish the cobalt s/c was an inch lower in the rear stock with a nice even look...but lowering the car without making it more harsh would probably cost a fortune so I'm stuck with it for a few years at least...

difference being, the cobalt looks fine a stock height, the redline tooks like a handicapped step child walking around on ctrutches... anyone drivinga redlines first mod should be springs.
