It shouldn't matter whether its an auto or automatic, it'll all sound the same

Umm what he said.

Transmissions have nothing to do with the sound of your exhaust system...

Nope. Just think about what your transmission does...it transfers power from the engine to the drive wheels. Your exhaust system is wastes carried from the combustion chamber during the exhaust stroke. Your exhaust output or engine output isn't being effected by the transmission (directly).

You're referring to the consistency of sound. A driver with a manual can determine how long he can press on the clutch and have no sound from the engine or putting any engine load.

But overall sound...no...there isn't a difference engine to engine.

I Just Put A Gm Performance Cat Back On My 2.4 Saturday Not As Loud As I Thought It Was Gonna Be But It Sounds Cool Can't Really Even Hear It Unless Your Over 3000 Rpm's. You Can Feel The Little Kick In The Ass Though When You Get On It. Hope This Helps.

I've heard the GM Touring xhaust sounds better than the Performance overall.
Couple of peeps here have mentioned it's a bit throatier utnil you get to upwards of 5,000 rpm or so.

Sounding "good" or "bad" is all according to the person hearing it...
