Car and driver has collected the 10 quickest cars from $20 000 to $25 000. Good news is there is 4 GM models in the list, but none higher then 5th place. The Cobalt SS Supercharged came 8th.

The new WRX with a 230HP 2.5L motor is much faster then the older 227HP 2.0L motor (more torque sooner and less turbo lag). The old WRX would be up around the G6 GT. The funniest is the Camry in 2nd place. I mean the car is a rocket for what it is, something around 268HP I think, but still....a Camry?

looking at these numbers the only thing I see is that the WRX with AWD gets better traction on take off all other number shows the cobalt pulling ahead of it.

 

It just dawned on me, but I wonder if this SS was only running the break-in 10.5 lbs boost? I read a C&D article and they mentioned how the car was only running up to 10.5 lbs, but GM assured them that after a thousand or so miles the car would make an extra 2 lbs of boost.

Any ideas? I am pretty damn sure the cobalt should outperform some of those cars.

all reviews ive read have always put the balt better then the redline...odd how theres 3 spots between the 2 lol.

 

so what is the diff between the balt and the red line? gears? if so what is so different

 

Looks like that test went on 0-60 times and that was it. The WRX is one of the slowest at the end of the 1/4 with a 96mph trap speed. Eclipse being the fastest with the balt right behind it.

I tend not to give much credibility to C&D. Their tests are full of flaws.

 

noone wants to admit that gm has been putting out a good product so they say what they can to hurt sales.
