View Full Version : Most Important; Performance or Appearance BLKblurr06 02-12-2007, 12:30 AM I just wanted to see who we have the most of on the Forum; People who are more concerned about performance or more about appearance. ItalianJoe1 02-12-2007, 12:46 AM Its all about speed. You can make it look good, but a great looking slow car is still a slow car. Matty 02-12-2007, 12:49 AM 75% performance 25% looks. Cobalt_Supercharged 02-12-2007, 12:52 AM 75% performance 25% looks. I would say that is close, depending on the performance. If you are gonna look fast you better be able to be even faster IMO. 06' SS2SS 02-12-2007, 12:58 AM I would say 50/50. I like a good looking car that matches it's performance. hectanooga 02-12-2007, 01:01 AM I go for performance way more than appearance. I'd say 70% performance, 30% appearance. I'm more of a sleeper builder than anything else. FuzzzMan 02-12-2007, 01:06 AM I geuss it all depends on what you think looks good.. I think we all want are cars to look a certain way.. I likde mine clean and simple.. I am thinking about stripes though and thats mikes fault IMADreamer 02-12-2007, 01:10 AM I'm mostly a performance guy but I do like some show too. maslpfan 02-12-2007, 01:16 AM all go no show. give me a primered grey chevy with a 572/720R and im happy. but it doesnt hurt to look good. i choose performance over looks. sunfirejoe 02-12-2007, 01:18 AM i liek go, a lot, but when u ahve go i think u need some looks :D tREBs 02-12-2007, 01:28 AM hey i bought a good looking car so i didnt have to worry bout that aspect! all performance baby!! NinjaHampster 02-12-2007, 01:31 AM performance inside stock outside :twothumbs thought 02-12-2007, 01:31 AM I think this question is like "good looking or intelligent". Both are important, but you cant deny that the first thing to grab your attention is the looks, the rest keeps your attention. The_Blur 02-12-2007, 01:43 AM There needs to be a healthy mix. It's a 60-40 mix in favor of luxury (appearance included). We all bought Cobalts over cheap-ass old POS cars because they look nice. Now if they had 2 hp, we would have laughed and said "fuck that," but we balanced an economy car with some good looks and got what we wanted. My 2.2 ain't fast and won't be getting there too soon. I have a ways to go in buying rims that look good (steelies suck) and other basic improvements. Eventually, I'll think about how fast I really want to go. For me, all I have are good looks and a good sound system. That's enough for me to be pretty happy until tuning comes out. Spectral 02-12-2007, 02:08 AM performance inside stock outside :twothumbs x2 :twothumbs The_Blur 02-12-2007, 02:11 AM x2 :twothumbs I knew you'd agree with that. If you could, you'd rock a SBC in your Aveo, and that would kick ass! g5mike 02-12-2007, 06:41 AM 75% performance 25% looks. this said it for me!:twothumbs :twothumbs :guns: :guns: halfj99 02-12-2007, 06:55 AM until i start going to tracks performance isnt that important to me...i can get to the speed limit just fine w/o stg 2 or n2o or w/e suspension is prolly the most important thing to me accually Zivnuska 02-12-2007, 08:45 AM I have got to have it all! The SS/SC is my daily driver. It has a nice combination of performance, economy, low price and fun. alleycat58 02-12-2007, 08:46 AM 95% performance, 5% appearance. Could care less what the car looks like, as long as it goes and handles on rails it's fine by me. Coblt ss super 02-12-2007, 08:48 AM im going with the 50/50 decision D4u2s0t 02-12-2007, 08:54 AM im more for performance than looks... like most of the other members that posted, and most of the other members on the site in general... I was thinking about a body kit or something along those lines, but I don't want to do that until I'm a lil faster... Acidangel_5.0 02-12-2007, 09:14 AM dont give a shit about looks until performance is finished. id rather have a 12 sec beater then a hot 15 sec car that looks like a 12 sec omgshesaboy 02-12-2007, 09:26 AM i think looks are just as important as performance, cause you could have some piece of shit car that goes fast but it still looks like shit, personallty id be embarresed to be driving around in some of the cars that go fast that ive seen, i think it should look good and go fast :twothumbs: bluntgasm 02-12-2007, 09:50 AM i think looks are just as important as performance, cause you could have some piece of shit car that goes fast but it still looks like shit, personallty id be embarresed to be driving around in some of the cars that go fast that ive seen, i think it should look good and go fast :twothumbs: x2 that about summed it up chipmonk212121 02-12-2007, 09:55 AM the SS/SC already looks good..... so 90% performance, 10% looks budman128 02-12-2007, 10:04 AM 95% performance, 5% appearance. Could care less what the car looks like, as long as it goes and handles on rails it's fine by me. x2 I agree totaly plyboy-illest 02-12-2007, 10:08 AM looks come second to the performance monkeiboy 02-12-2007, 10:15 AM Looks over performance. Try getting a girl horny talking about how you dropped a turbocharged 405 in your lime green 88 Monte Carlo with racing slicks. Now pull up in front of her house in a new black V6 mustang, and she'll boff your brains out. chipmonk212121 02-12-2007, 10:18 AM Looks over performance. Try getting a girl horny talking about how you dropped a turbocharged 405 in your lime green 88 Monte Carlo with racing slicks. Now pull up in front of her house in a new black V6 mustang, and she'll boff your brains out. if you have to impress a girl with your car, then you have issues beyond what this site covers...... well maybe it can be helped in the lounge. Like i said before, the SS/SC already is a nice looking car. doesnt need much in looks to improve it D4u2s0t 02-12-2007, 10:41 AM Looks over performance. Try getting a girl horny talking about how you dropped a turbocharged 405 in your lime green 88 Monte Carlo with racing slicks. Now pull up in front of her house in a new black V6 mustang, and she'll boff your brains out. you, my friend, need to become a premium member and take some advice from the pros... a few weeks in the dungeon, and you'll be buying that lime green monte  ChrisAult2004 02-12-2007, 10:47 AM Im gonna say for now, im about appearance. I want a car look good, and I include the sound of the exhaust as an appearance item. Until my warrantee runs out, im keeping performance mods to intake and full exhaust, and focusing on looks, but not going over the top. After the warrantee is close to running out, then Ill prolly peice a turbo kit together, assuming our PCM is unlocked by then lol. celicacobalt 02-12-2007, 10:49 AM its sucky to look fast and not be so performance imo chipmonk212121 02-12-2007, 10:54 AM see... the 2.0 people have a different situation. its much easier to make a SS/SC fast than a 2.2 or 2.4...... for them it can be a different story budman128 02-12-2007, 10:59 AM Looks over performance. Try getting a girl horny talking about how you dropped a turbocharged 405 in your lime green 88 Monte Carlo with racing slicks. Now pull up in front of her house in a new black V6 mustang, and she'll boff your brains out. I don't need a car to get laid. JiggaChillan 02-12-2007, 11:14 AM I'd say 90% performance and 10% looks. Like most people already said, the car looks sexy already as stock, so may as well go overboard on performance...:twothumbs :guns: monkeiboy 02-12-2007, 11:49 AM Whatever guys. I'm not ashamed enough to admit that I'll take help getting laid wherever I can get it. To hell with pride issues. " I don't need a car to get me laid...meeeeuuwwww" Fu$% that noise! If walking around pantsless with a baby bottle in your ass guaranteed that you'd get laid every day as a guy, they'd have to reinvent chairs across the globe with a hole in the seat. You posers need to quit playing all cool. g5mike 02-12-2007, 03:16 PM I would restart this again and make it a poll,it would be a good one stlurbanpunk 02-13-2007, 12:09 AM Ahhh the age old question... This has been debated since the dawn of automobiles. i'd have to go for split 50/50. sure there are times when i think performance is more importaint and then there are other times when i think looks is more importaint. phxSS 02-13-2007, 12:26 AM 50/50 BLKblurr06 02-13-2007, 12:28 AM hey i bought a good looking car so i didnt have to worry bout that aspect! all performance baby!! x2:twothumbs TCarter 02-13-2007, 12:38 AM I would say 50/50. I like a good looking car that matches it's performance. id agree fully. As a business owner, I cant make my cars that I advertise to the masses look like ass. And my cars dont need to look like ass.. (ass = stock) I believe a little bit of neons, a nice wax job, some tint, lowering springs, and some shiny stuff under the hood can go a long way. Than again, Performance parts do add "show" quality to your car. budman128 02-15-2007, 04:31 PM Whatever guys. I think a person should buy/build a car for their own enjoyment fuck what anyone else thinks. I have never and will never buy a car just cause chicks like it if thats what you wanna do go buy a celica. Performance interests me more than visual mods and I think buying anything just because someone else likes it is dumb. BlilBT 02-15-2007, 04:53 PM I'm Doing Both!:twothumbs Looks Good & Runs! YellowLT 02-15-2007, 04:59 PM Function over Fashion, Performance *00lbs worth of Fiberglassed Subs is pointless RaineMan 02-15-2007, 05:03 PM My philosophy: I don't care what your car looks like... how "bling" your dubs and chrome are... or the fact that I can feel your subs inside my car... that light turns green, I'm gone. sushidog 02-15-2007, 05:14 PM Suspension = performance by your definition, and there's nothing wrong with that. We each have our own. Gas mileage is an important performance consideration for me. My performance goal is decent handling, with the lowest possible ET while still getting 30mpg or better on the highway from a reliable daily driver. Form Follows Function best sum's up my opinion. victory_red_SS 02-15-2007, 05:14 PM If I have to choose one over the other, then I choose "GO". If after the go is done and money is left over then it's time for some "show" as long as that show doesn't become "slow". Our cars were beautiful when we bought them so we already had a good start in the looks department. A-Town 02-15-2007, 05:16 PM Both!! bravehart929 02-15-2007, 06:20 PM both are important to me. im only going to build my car to a certain point performance wise because i can only use so much horsepower on the streets, i can barely push it hard now so what would i do with an extra 200hp besides burn up tires. i go to the track but only a few times a year so if i can get about 300 hp to the wheels thats way more than enough to pin people back in their seat and turn some nice track times. after that im just going to customize try to enter some car shows. halfj99 02-15-2007, 06:29 PM http://www.edmunds.com/media/il/features/general/does.that.cop.car.have.a.hemi/cop.340.jpg when this is behind you, performance http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f225/LizzyBrooke/cabomyspacetwo-1.jpg when this is behind you, looks Maxim_X 02-15-2007, 06:37 PM It's really hjard to say, all of my mods have been performance except for debadging, but IMO the car already looks good. Granted it could look better and I like to look good. But, I would rather drive a dented, primer gray SR20 turbo sentra thats runs strong and hard than a Civic w/ 18's and TV's custom paint thats still stock underneat it. |
