power difference between gm stage 1 and 2
power difference between gm stage 1 and 2
I was wondering what the power difference is. I've done soem research and it seems most of the power from the stage two kit, on the dyno atleast seems to be made because of the 7k redline. I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck that'll keep my warranty intact. I also don't want to spend to much because once the warranty is up i'm planning a blower swap. Thanks.
The only power increase you get from Stage 1 is b/c the peak hp is achieved at redline... which is raised to 7000 via the new reflash. It really dosen't do anything at all.
Stage 2 should provide about 15lbs of boost which will give you a hp increase not only at peak, but across the whole band. Believe me... Stage 2 is worth it.

Stage 1 vs Stock

Stage 2 vs Stock
There's your answer... in hard numbers.
Also, worth noting... is that the stock hp number shown on the dyno sheet is somewhere near 220 at ~6400 where it peaks. So much for our reported "205" Stage 1 simply pushes that peak higher by letting the engine rev higher... note that Stage 1 hp is measured at 6800 instead of 6400.

it is 100% warranty for stage 2
dont forget that you gain power all across the power band, not just peak hp either

i paid about $790 for mine with install and an oil change. took some arm twisting tho and a cool parts guy that made a false promise (the service manager tried to quote me more and i objected

gms numbers don't mean much to me because they rate this car at 205, which is a joke. so saying that gm says it goes from 205 to 241 means jack.
If you want to pinch a penny and just get Stage 1... go ahead, but you'll be dissapointed. Fork out the extra for Stage 2. I just had mine installed last week and I'm loving it.
I'm so glad you totally missed the point... the reason I took the time to post all of that is so you could see that the hp gains in stage 1 are only b/c the car can rev higher. Don't even worry about the actual "numbers"... just look at the graphs, that's where the story is.

no, i got the point, I just don't trust gm's graphs becasue they say the car dynos 205, is that at the flywheel on a engine dyno or at the wheels..ect. Do you understand what i'm trying to say with that? I was hoping someone did back t back testing or atleast did a base line and did the two staged kits.
I wanted the same thing. TO keep my warrentee. That lasted about 1 month. I say save the money and upgrade to a 2.7 w/ 60#'s + tune, becuase your probably going to soon anyway. My$.02!!
I did the GMPP exhaust first, that was a nice upgrade, put you in your seat a little better. Also I got the impression that the engine revved a little quicker, and the sound is awesome. However, when I went stage two, I was like "Holy ****! Now its alive!"
I dont have any idea how a stage two would be without an exhaust, but my guess is it would kick some serious ass anyways.
Stage 2 is totally worth it, the warranty safety net is nice, plus I still net around 22-27mpg (depending on how fast I drive, and hwy/city)

i may save for a bit longer and get both, but i hear stage 2 is a super rich tune. is this true? and if so would it be smarter to put on a 2.9 pully instead of the 3.0 that comes with stage 2? or is this a bad idea
